Re: Power levels aren't linear! revisited thread

Power levels are not consistent obviously... this is news? Of course not, but I believe he's trying to come up with an in-universe explanation to Toriyama's habit of not caring about consistency and/or being forgetful. To be honest, I once tried to do the same sort of thing and work out a way that ...

Re: What's with Kamesennin's nose bleeds?

Other shows have ladies having nosebleeds? Only one I've seen was on Sekirei , but didn't know others had women nosebleeding. Quite a few, despite it being much more common with male characters. Minako/Sailor V/Sailor Venus has had a couple in both Sailor Moon and the Sailor V manga, for example. A...

Re: Gravity Training

You're one of those, eh? Unnecessarily over-thinking things? I hope that comment is in jest, because I think this topic itself might be unnecessarily over-thinking things. Personally, I think a character's physical strength comes from a mix of their muscles and ki, and that they have to push ...

Re: SSJ3 Goku X Kaioken

Fine, in which case I'll use that in the manga full powered Freeza was still no match for SSJ Goku but in the anime Freeza was able to keep up with him. Are we to believe that there are two different viable versions of this fight or that there is only 1 right one? All they're saying is that there i...

Re: SSJ3 Goku X Kaioken

Also, I don't want to turn this into a "is mystic Gohan truly the strongest or not" thread, but if he really is, then how come when Vegeta wished for everyone that Buu killed back to life, Goku didn't just use instant transmission to get back to earth, grab Gohan, and then go back to the other worl...

Really? I thought failed fusions were weaker, but now that you mention it, I'm not sure if that's ever been confirmed anywhere.

Re: Minimum power level required for planet-busting?

I think Roshi blowing up the Moon is a real bump in the progression of power depictions. That's enough power to wipe out all life on Earth with a single attack, even if the planet itself would technically survive, and yet Daimao is only as powerful as a nuclear weapon and the most we see him (or any...

Re: Is Vegetto the Strongest of Any Anime Characters?

But let me try and get this straight. Unless they're fighting in this imaginary spiral land majority if not all of their abilities are virtually moot? Like Mewzard said, it's only their final, galaxy-throwing "mech" that is a manifestation within Super Spiral Space. The catch is that it can create ...

Re: Is Vegetto the Strongest of Any Anime Characters?

That sounds awesome. Wasn't all that fighting with the Anti Spiral in its own fake illusionary reality though? Like it was in their minds or something. At least that's how it seemed in the series. They were inside "Super Spiral Space", where thought becomes reality. So it was real, but at the same ...

Re: Does ki correlate to skill?

I think that bringing your ki out to its limit in a fight is a skill in and of itself, but that's not really the same thing as fighting skill. It's more like how some characters aren't good at bringing their power out at will (e.g. Gohan, Uub), or the idea that you could get rusty and lose the abili...

Re: Kaiō-sama's death

Yeah, I don't feel the need to overthink it, but...it is interesting when you do. The guides tell us that a new Kaio is selected by lottery when the previous one dies, but since they can just continue as normal after death, what's really stopping a dead Kaio from keeping his position forever?

Re: Kaiō-sama's death

Goku said that he could have been, but chose not to so that he could keep him company. Why he'd need to stay dead to keep him company is a bit of a mystery, though. I mean, there's nothing stopping him from taking a trip to Heaven, right? Except his job, I guess. So was North Kaio replaced when he d...

Re: Is Vegetto the Strongest of Any Anime Characters?

I'm sure that almost everybody knows that, but he was visualizing them as moons comparable to our own purely due to the term "moon". The term "planets", besides being what its stated on the wiki, is much more effective in transmitting the idea that they can be much larger than our moon (or not, we ...

Re: Are Episode of Bardock and Tarble OVA official parts of

Well, that could be possible, but I don't see any reason to assume that a different story happened when we already have 2 versions of the same story working just fine. For me it's about not assuming anything, but I guess that's easy for me since I don't care very much about what is and isn't canon....

Re: Are Episode of Bardock and Tarble OVA official parts of

If you take the fact that DBZ: Battle of Gods takes place in the official history as that it takes place in the manga continuity, then the JSAT Special would be dragged in as well, since Tarble is mentioned. I would also chose the manga adaptation of the special over the animated special, because T...

Re: Knowing whether Dragon Ball was Japanese or not.

I was already a big animation fan before I saw/read Dragon Ball for the first time, and I had one or two books specifically about Japanese animation, so I knew of Dragon Ball and its origins before my first real experience with it. I remember when I first saw a video of Dragon Ball Z, I was reminded...

Re: Is Vegetto the Strongest of Any Anime Characters?

Truth be told, the actual Gurren Lagann and other Spiral Power warriors would be destroyed by Freeza era fighters, outside of the universal one. That's true, the actual, vanilla Gurren Lagann isn't very strong in the grand scheme of things--which isn't surprising considering they get it in the thir...

Re: Can Bra turn Super Saiyan right off the bat?

One of the problems I had with the Boo & Trunks/Android/Cell Saga was for this reason. Becoming Super Saiyan was an achievement and happened rarely to a certain amount of Saiyans. Although I had no problem with Vegeta becoming a Super Saiyan, I found that Gohan, Trunks and Goten's way was.....I did...
