Re: What are the best DBZ Movie 1-13 Fullscreen releases?

They probably used the creditless OP for the first two movies because the credited OP was shifted vertically to fit better in widescreen, leading to some really awkward borders when watching in fullscreen.

Re: What are the best DBZ Movie 1-13 Fullscreen releases?

Sorry, I meant uncut with the Japanese title card and credits, such as Funimation's DVD releases of the movies during the early to mid-2000s. Well, for movies 2 onwards, the original DVD singles have both. For movie 1, the streaming version of the Funi HD master uses Japanese title cards, credits, ...

Inuyasha aired uncut on Biggs. I'm absolutely 100% certain of this.

Re: Dragonn Ball Home Releases: Funimation vs Madman

Madman releases are PAL, early DBZ Madman singles are dub-only, and I think Pioneer's releases of the Saban DBZ episodes are missing the recaps and previews.

Re: Has Dragon Ball been remastered to HD or not?

I'm only seeing this thread now, for the first time, so maybe someone has already said what I'm about to say. I don't think it's a "new HD transfer". But I do agree it looks superior to the DBox. Two most likely cases are: a very smart sharpening filter onto the Dragon Box; or, they are using the s...

Re: Pirating Dragon Ball (discussion)

If they watch the simulcast legitimately afterwards anyway, I don't see the problem. Toei are going to get paid the same either way whether you first watch the live TV stream or not.

Re: Pirating Dragon Ball (discussion)

They do use Dragon Box footage... but only for GT and the last two seasons of Z (and only when watching in Japanese).

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/11/17!)

Curious thing about that plot hole regarding Goku's spaceship, I seem to recall the Portuguese dub actually had Dr Brief say that it was in pieces, but that he'd been able to salvage enough of it to build the version he took to Namek.

Re: DO NOT buy the movies on Amazon Video (Japan)

So today I noticed that the 13 Dragon Ball Z movies were streaming in HD on Amazon. "What's this? An all new remaster?" I pondered to myself. Well, let's just cut to the chase. It's the exact Dragon Box footage with some upscale and DNR. Here are some comparison shots of the movie Dead Zone: http:/...

Re: Is being able to watch original DBZ in a non-cropped format for a reasonable price too much to ask?

If you speak either Spanish or French, you can import 4:3 sets with subtitles in those languages for sane prices from Europe. But if you only speak English, yeah, you're pretty much screwed. By the way, the last two "seasons" of DBZ are in 4:3 on FUNimation's streaming service if you watch them in J...

Re: Has Dragon Ball been remastered to HD or not?

On a side note, Dragon Ball Z appears to have gotten the same treatment. Dragon Box master in 720p. https://i.imgur.com/6AKCuw3.png That's the bitrate, not the resolution. 910kbps would be pathetic for 720p (Netflix typically go around 3mbps for 720p video, for what it's worth...) Fair enough, but ...

Re: Portuguese Dub, perhaps?

I was actually impressed by Vegeta's explanation of the Bruits Waves. I thought that they would chalk it off as nonsense, but then I went back to watch that scene, and they kept everything intact. Actual plot information like that is generally kept intact. The jokes they throw in are more during on...

Re: Portuguese Dub, perhaps?

Yeah, kinda. But unlike early Funi who rewrote entire plot lines for no reason (Bardock the scientist, anyone?), the Portuguese dub only added jokes — the actual “important” lines were all intact (well, as intact as we got them from the highly edited French dub anyway)

Re: Portuguese Dub, perhaps?

Most people who only know of this dub from YouTube clipshows are under the (very mistaken) impression that the dub was filled to the brim with nothing but jokes. That isn't the case at all. They merely occasionally added random jokes here and there where they could fit them. I'd say around 95% of th...

I meant, as far as I know, 烏龍 is not "Woolong" under any standard Chinese romanisation method. It's Wulong in Pinyin and Wulung in Wade-Giles.
