Re: DBZ Opening: 3 Incomplete Versions
Bumping this old thread to mention that Animax's recent rerun of episode 200 included the version of We Gotta Power without the clouds (but strangely enough, 201's didn't).
Uploaded it here for anyone who wants it.

Re: Pioneer Laserdisc question
Yeah, but the movies Dragon Box is cropped :/
Like I said, the French DVDs are the best currently available 4:3 transfer of movies 7-13. Obviously some hypothetical uncropped Dragon Box transfer would be preferable if that actually existed.

Re: Pioneer Laserdisc question
The fact that the "definitive" release is cropped into widescreen cements the idea that these full-frame movies should be exclusively viewed in 16:9, despite there definitely being detail missing in the animation of the theatrical format. http://upload.dbnao.net/files/9611_1491048841_dbz1...

Re: Canadian French Dub- does it exist?
The idea of there being a dub that uses BOTH 'Tien' and 'Petit-Coeur' at the same time confuses the hell out of me.

Last one they dubbed was the anniversary version of We Are.

No, that's not true at all. You have to fight people who use your trademark, not copyright.

I think a few of the movies got stereo audio on CDs.

Re: Why did FUNi use different instrumental for their DB and DBGT covers?
If you look at the Dragon Box GT extras, you can see that the instrumental of the GT opening and first ending included is pretty low quality, significantly worse than the Japanese track. So that's probably why they re-recorded the songs.

Actually, all of Saint Seiya's been released (subtitled-only) by New Video. So you CAN watch the whole series subtitled if you want to.

Re: Anyone else annoyed at Crunchyroll's subs?
The translator probably doesn't know squat about FUNi's dub and was just given a laundry list of dub terms to use. Anything that the dub didn't translate probably wasn't on said laundry list and thus the translator had to figure out on his own... I'm glad that for the most part, the other language s...

The most literal, grammar-breaking translation of the original French is "I should use the Kaiôken level 10 !..." He's definitely not using it yet.

The fanboy worship the Falcouner score gets by American DBZ fans especially its dude bro section. Seriously it sounds like ass. Give me the DiC score from Sailor Moon or the recycled Masked Rider soundtrack from Digimon any day of the week for dub replacement scores (or hell even the Shuki Levy sco...

Re: Full frame movies
Centre-cropping a DVD on a TV would look terrible, no doubts about that. We're literally talking about a paltry 720x360 worth of resolution left here. However, when talking about a Blu-ray, cropping a 1440x1080 image to 16:9 still leaves you with a very comfortable 1440x810.

It's from champagne (which is pronounced shampañe), so yeah.
Also, re: Gohan's insult to Nappa, the original was "Your mother's belly button sticks out", for whatever that's worth.
