Re: Getting Kai OST 2 these days...

Wonder what the Vol. 4 soundtrack was going to include? Would this have been one of them? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KhBHcz0cbg The tracklisting was made available before the cancellation, and... well, I'll just quote what I posted back then, in that thread . Guess what. They've revealed the ...

Re: Did Funimation ever say why they didn't replace DB's OST

There is also this one one instrument that is used constantly that I'm forgetting the name of it at the moment, which is sad because we had learned to use it my elementary school music class. Its that thing that sounds like a rattlesnake rattling when vibrates. OK, first off, you're thinking of a v...

Re: Sumitomo's Report Card (Music Thoughts)

As far as I'm concerned, Sumitomo is not doing Super any favors. With the other DragonBall stuff he's scored, I've at least been able to become attached to a few great cues here and there, albeit only after sifting through the amorphous non-statements that are so overwhelmingly present in his work. ...

Re: Iconic scenes ruined by the dub?

In the Japanese version, one of the most powerful moments to me was when Goku says, "Kuririn-kun... He's been murdered!" Adding the suffix, which is something Goku never does, was a touch that really helped express Goku's pain. Well, I hate to be the bubble-burster here, but Goku doesn't actually u...

Re: What if Faulconer's soundtrack was the original?

I love his work, but a couple of Kikuchi's themes are hard to listen to by themselves IMO. *cough* Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI Pawā! *cough* Kikuchi had nothing to do with Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI Pawaa!. That one was composed by Takeshi Ike. The songs are a completely separate beast from the score, and...

Re: Are there any dub pieces that you prefer over the origin

Would that unused piece happen to be the first cue that appears in the "Reunion! Tenkaichi Budokai" track from the BGM Collection? Yes, it's M1018. (My personal title, though I don't think I've used it on the site yet, is "Spectator Tullece".) And now I just remembered that it was also included in ...

Re: What's that BGM in the Japanese version? Read the OP!

I'm generally saving corrections for the final draft. It's how I work on projects: I have to focus on just that one thing, and in this case that means rewatching the entire series in a several-week marathon, which I currently don't have time for. 1) "The Pterodactyl" is actually the tail end of "Gok...

Re: Battle of Scores: Tokunaga vs. Kikuchi

It helps make the score more timeless if anything, which fits better into the Dragon Ball world. It makes it sound dated and older than it is. A series that ran into mid 90's yet has dreary 70's sounding music. There's no intensity in the soundtrack at all, it kicks all of the excitement out of the...

Re: Are there any dub pieces that you prefer over the origin

I generally prefer the dub composers over Kikuchi (although i'd rather listen to GT with Tokunaga instead of Menza). Here's one scene where i prefer the dub music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6EidzTATG0 (Saban music version) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4CAFAAHv3k (FUNimation music version)...

Re: Kenisu down

Thanks again. Your guide has gotten me to know more about the Kikuchi score than ever before, and I appreciate that. Basically, he would compose a new set of music cues for a movie, and then incorporate them into the series later on. Very rarely did he add regular music to the show along the way (i...

Re: Kenisu down

Am I correct in assuming that "Anticipation" was an unused cue from DBZ Movie 2? I know that kei17 's speculative M-number for "Anticipation" is M904, so yeah, you're in good company. I rewatched the movies some time last year or so and took extensive notes on the music and timecodes (which have ye...

Re: What is your favorite Sound Effect?

These two, when used in tandem. Love love love love LOVE it. My favorite use of it is during the 23rd Budokai, when the camera pulls back to show the crater Goku made when he walloped Piccolo with his Kamehameha, and then the big reveal of Piccolo (seemingly) unconscious. There's so much suspense t...

Re: What controversial themes/social issues can work in DB?

I'd just like to say I'm reeeeeeally glad certain real world social issues don't get addressed in DragonBall. I get enough of that and hear enough about it IRL. DragonBall is my escapism - I want to escape from that shiz, darnit.

Re: Buu-Kai Arc soundtrack and "Let it burn"

Just had a quick gander at the soundtrack it is not that bad to be honest, Super Saiyan 3 and it's subsequent track were probably my favourite's of the one's I heard. But am I right in thinking that folks moreso have problem with the placement rather then the actual soundtrack? "Super Saiyan 3" is ...

does anyone know the name of the track in Kikuchi Z when the Ginyu Force does their introductions? You mean in front of Freeza? That's the second half of "The Fearsome Ginyu Tokusentai" (or "special force" or "special corps" or however they're translating "tokusentai" these days). It's found on tra...

Hey Kenisu, I've been looking for the track that plays when Trnks begin to transform in front of Freeza and Cold. The track name is -- Coola Disposes Of Piccolo (Movie 5) Here, try this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=OUhFVAP_Id4#t=134 it has no m number either. I c...
