Guh, I haven't seen the dub in forever.....*thinks*.... For Funi: -I really enjoyed the cheese Gohan's VA injected into his Saiyaman voice. It was charmingly dorky. X3 -That scene where they show the Bobble-Head movie at the Tenkaichi Budoukai; the way Funi went about it made me smile. Oh, wow, I f...

Yeah, FUNimation's mix is pretty terrible. I guess Toei gave them a bad effects and music track. Naw, most of their 5.1 tracks have ended up this way. Their own fault. Yeah, but if TOEI only gave them mono score tracks, then what can you really do? No matter what you do to it, the exact same music ...

Well, like you said, both instances are filler. They have a hard enough time matching with canon material. You really expect them to match with each other? But unless I'm mistaken, when Goku confronts Mutaito, Popo's trying to teach him about sensing ki, which apparently is a concept that Mut...

Anyways, back on topic, even if Buu-smoke was comprised of some kind of "cells", how can a Genki-Dama deteriorate it further? At least Cell's situation was a little clearer. If you destroy his cells down to smaller particles you're done. But Buu's smoke/vapor is already the product of this breaking...

Doing a redub from the ground-up doesn't seem like an impossibility, contrary to what others may believe. I don't think it's impossible. I just think they're aware they've already alienated their dub loyalist fanbase by reverting back to the original music, so I don't think they'd risk messing with...

Yeah, I did know that. Thank you, though. I know it is used in the dub, but I can't find it being used anywhere in the original version outside of the translation used for the Dragon Book.

I'm really hoping to see more dub fans come in here and say what they like about the original version. There have been a few at the beginning, but, for the most part, this seems rather one-sided. The Dub's number one fan didn't even say anything about anything but the dub. Made me sad :( Indeed. Pe...

Oh, yes, I certainly agree. The dub with the original score is certainly a phenomenal improvement. It's just a shame that the other half of the dub still doesn't fit. It's a step in the right direction, but they'd really have to do it again from the ground up to have a chance of getting it to really...

Oooh, just to clarify, I do consider Garlic Jr. to be its own separate "arc", not a part of Freeza or Cell, but I never mention filler arcs in my own lists. I simply go by "true" manga story divisions.

Hmm... is that not agreed upon now? Well, outside of the FUNimation circles? Not counting filler like Garlic Jr., it seems that at least a lot of people in this thread still use that "classic" (if you will  ) four-arc system.

Haha, yeah, good point. What exactly is 5.1 about that dub anyway? The music doesn't seem to come from a stereo source (it would be much more awesome if they did use a stereo master for that) but rather the same mono as the original. I guess the voices are 5.1... maybe the sound effects too? Overall...

Where Did the Name "Arlia" Come From?

Having just watched the episode, it doesn't seem to appear anywhere within the dialogue itself. Vegeta just refers to it as "a planet." I was beginning to think it was just a dubism, but the Dragon Book in the FUNi Box refers to it as Arlia, so... really, where did it come from?

So sorta like a pocket dimension then? Not a legitimate dimension or space in itself, but just a "hole" of sorts that an individual can open and seal things away in.

Interestingly, the dub voices of Freeza never really bothered me too much. Sure, they were no Nakao Ryusei, but they were serviceable. Ehhh, it wasn't really accurate to the character, but when I was 12, I used to bust a gut at, "Having these balls makes me feel something that resembles joy, I think...

Interestingly, I just read the demon guide on Kanzentai for the first time a few days ago. But I don't know... maybe it's just the term "Demon Clan," but I never really thought of being a Mazoku as a primarily physical thing. It's something to which you subscribe, like a type of martial arts: like t...

Where do I begin? Sean Schemmel is amazing as Goku. He just captures his personality perfectly and can switch between serious and light-hearted seamlessly. Also, Stephanie Nadolny go good as Gohan once she started getting used to it, around the Cell saga. Chris Sabat's Piccolo and Vegeta have been ...

Sigh... Why the Kikuchi Score Doesn't Work with the FUNi Dub

As I've mentioned before, my recent acquisition of the Dragon Box has gotten me spot checking the dub for the first time in several years, allowing me to view the redub for the first time in some cases. I know Mike has said in certain episodes of the Podcast that it's the quality of the dub voices t...

Thanks. Chances are I'm just basing my info from all the time I spent at DBZ Uncensored as an adolescent. Sigh. I remember those days like they were yesterday... Well, anyway, Psaros always referred to them as the Saiya-jin Saga and the Freeza Saga, but, obviously he wasn't going by whatever interna...
