Re: DB relationships

I do like it when the artists keep things in a realistic style, or one similar to Toriyama's. (Related: Has anybody here read Sky World?) I don't like it when people try to make my guys all...not muscley. XD (I mean, toned down a bit, sure, if you're taking the realistic angle.) But I guess what bot...

Re: DB relationships

Personally I don't make much fuss about "this is het" or "this is slash"- really I just look at things as if the relationship makes sense, is well written and developed or not. There's well written and bad written stuff in every category. Yeah, I think that's what I failed to adequately actually co...

Re: DB relationships

It's great to find a yaoi fan who agrees with me. Maybe if I had read some good yaoi fics in the early days of my DB fan fiction fandom, I wouldn't be so against them. Goku and Vegeta is better than the barrage of Vegeta/Goku/Whoever and some 13 year old's Mary Sue. But then anything is better than...

Re: DB relationships

I don't have anything against yaoi. I just don't like to ridiculous things they do to the characters. Not to mention how OOC they usually are. Perhaps the most irritating part of all is the way the try to get rid of the canon female characters that are with the various male characters to begin with...

Re: DB relationships

I would assume people probably think this because they don't want their characters to be gay or the fact that Toriyama tends to draw his gay characters stereotypically gay (e.g. General Blue, Otokosuki (his name also literally means "boy-crazy")). Although you could say Zarbon is drawn stereotypica...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse

@Kingdom Heartless and ShiningMoon Eh, I am not sure if you get it, but the one who said "Bear my child" is not Goku. It is Kakarotto from U13. Remember his fight against Kat? At last for now Goku can be just as unaffected as Gohan and Pan. Oh! I see. Eh, I've been reading this really casually, so ...

Re: DB relationships

Haha, wow. Well, was the out-of-nowhere Raditsu/Puar at least, uh, good/justifiable/uhhhhhh...sexy? Agreed about Bulma/Goku; I've not read a lot of it but it seems like one of the most feasible non-canon pairings. Come to think of it, though, I've never actually read a good Goku/Chi-Chi fic. I guess...

Bahaha, I think you're right, now that you mention that. Though Vegeta's "shut up, Kakarotto" comment also made me laugh.

Re: DB relationships

The best unusual relationship fic I've ever come across has been the same for eight years- Bucky's classic Piccolo and Chichi . They're awkward as hell to make work but when you do it right everything just falls in line and works out. Oh! I have read this one! Thanks for reminding me that it exists...

Re: Aspects You Wish Were Expanded Upon

I also wished they replaced the "Garlic Jr. saga" with the "yardrat saga" and we got to see Goku with the yardrats and how they taught him instant transmission. !! This! That would have been so very, very awesome. I'd totally forgotten about that, but yeah. Or, consider this: it could have been a m...

No. Sorry.
Oh, I thought that was why you were asking/why you phrased it that way; sorry to have been so presumptuous. XD

Re: Fan Works Explosion

Something along the lines of: Destroy the enemy Pride of the Saiya people But really and truly I just wanted it to look cool and Russian-y, added bonus if I did it right. XD (Or rather, if freetranslation.com did it right.) Figured it was better than tossing on characters haphazardly. Do you know Ru...

Re: Fan Works Explosion

I did this painting a couple of weeks ago...if someone here knows Russian you can tell me how awfully freetranslation.com butchered the phrase. *knows no Russian but wanted to make a "propaganda poster"* I think I will work on his mouth/teeth a little bit more when I get the chance because the...

Re: DB relationships

Yeah, you're right about Vegeta and 18. But I was thinking that he could just have, like, a serious "grudge" against her for defeating and humiliating him, and he treats harsher than anyone else. But whatever. Ah, yeah, I see what you're saying. I think there was a discussion in some other thread a...

Re: Aspects You Wish Were Expanded Upon

I've been working lately with this theory that it was because of Future Trunks (and Vegeta's realizing that he actually cares about him, as we see his reaction to Cell's killing him) that Vegeta realizes he can and does care about people, and combined with his lack of anything else to pursue becomes...

Re: DB relationships

Agreed, I think working Piccolo into a pairing successfully is a challenge (especially if you tend to, you know, like to keep your characters in-character). I think I might have mentioned this here or somewhere else or both (or neither?) but I've been thinking a lot lately (maybe in part due to the ...

Re: Asperger's Syndrome and Dragon Ball

I have an IQ over 140 but it never showed until I actually wanted to go to college and well the grades pretty much skyrocketed up. From what I understand this is the norm for a lot of people with different mental (if I may call them this) disorders/disabilities. My boyfriend is dyslexic, and the sa...

Re: Asperger's Syndrome and Dragon Ball

I've a friend with Asperger's, and he's into a lot of anime, but I don't believe DB is one of them. (Or else my boyfriend, who is his best friend, would probably be much more into it himself!) His behavior patterns don't seem to be quite the same as this girl's from what I've seen and what you've de...

Re: DB relationships

The pairing in that isn't even remotely the focus on that fic (and it's a major AU, with no future anyone). It's just sort of an aside thing. It's referenced a few times (before a rather nasty... 'falling out' happens) and... that's it. There's more focus on Marron/Bra and 17/Pan in the story than ...

Re: Aspects You Wish Were Expanded Upon

Oh wow, textbook indeed. Heh, it's always fun to look at the crazy shenanigans of characters of a "fantastical" universe from a real-life perspective. (There has to be something wrong with Bulma. "Genocidal maniac whose chief desire is to brutally beat and kill one of my best friends, who I welcomed...
