Re: Dragon Ball Funimation English Closed Captions

For the most part, English speakers can understand the various other native English accents. Only a few are so different that we’d have trouble.

You got the closed captioning from the DVDs? I know all FUNi’s original releases had them.

Re: I'm done with the dub

They didn't really copy Toriyama's style of writing. For one, the text is noticeably more 'mature' in places. Maybe it is the translation, but the fact is some subs and translation even by the professionals are just dry. There is no other way I can explain it. You misunderstood. I was trying to say...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Exactly. There’s no way they won’t be on the set if they were on the Dragon Box Z sets. But on those, it was Japanese only. Which is stupid. What’s wrong with only the latter half of the show having them in the English dub? That’s better than none at all.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

It would certainly be great...but it would be for the FUNi dub (ver. 1) only. And that’s IF they even include it. They’ve been solely releasing the FUNi dub (ver. 3) since 2007. It would definitely be fitting for an anniversary boxset release, tho. But episodes 1~53 (original FUNi dub episode count)...

Re: TeamFourStar and Fair Use

If the episodes were 5 minutes or less each and weren’t structured like a fandub with added humor they might of had a better case Isn’t that just for the finalé of each story arc? Like 99% if the episodes are still pure parodies. Then again, I have watched it since just a littel past the Saiyan arc...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Yeah. If they make a big deal out of it like it’s a good thing, people will think it’s a good thing. That’s how they sold the 16:9 aspect ratio. But that was 12 years ago. It’s been long enuf tho they could get away with making 4:3 the “way it was meant to be seen” and have it be true this time.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Now that you mention it, yeah, that’d be kind of strange. Like you said, it would really only make sense if they had t announced it yet, or if it was a release date. Still...it’s just so wrong that 4:3 should even be a selling point, let alone the main one.

Re: I'm done with the dub

What if the subtitles are written in the Dislexie font? Toriyama didn’t write the script for Super. That and some times the original script is just dry. Like look at the sub of Yu Yu Hakusho, especially the original manga. There’s a reason why many, even some sub watchers, perfer the dub. I know. Bu...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

No because track orders are done to give albums the best flow. The NEP's aren't really part of the episode. I would argue that the original style isn't the correct order. The NEP's are fun, but they're just promotion for the next week's installment. In the era of streaming and home video release, t...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

But that’s how all shows were done back then. You’re just used to the modern style, and clearly didn’t spend half a decade watching the show end the episode (the main part) with the NEP coming up next. Not having it in the correct order is like having an album with the tracks out of order from what ...

Re: I'm done with the dub

Personally prefer the dub despite watching all the sub episodes as their aired. The script changes aren't nearly as drastic as some people pushed, although there as some weirdness. But other helped enhanced the dialog, which can be very dry at times or repetitive. Perhaps the subtitles just aren't ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

DBGT has them, DB doesn't (if I recall correctly), and DBZ has all but for the Ultimate Uncute Special Edition dub (maybe). FUNi's first two seasons do have ALL the NEPs on the Rock the Dragon Set, but after that it gets sketchy... Only the final episode on each disc/tape (of the singles) has the NE...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Funimation dubd every next episode preview from episode 1 to 276 (since they cut the first three seasons of their dub, it shorten’d the episode count). From what I’ve read on here, the Ultimate Uncut Special Edition redub didn’t include dubbing the next episode previews. Or if they did, they at leas...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming...

I agree about the logo. Had they re-colord the “BALL” part of the logo to red, it would’ve lookt a lot better. It would’ve lookt more like the Dragon Ball Z logo, which would make sense since it’s a refresh of DBZ...

This is really awesome. If only an English dub were to to do this one day... Thank you for a glimps into an alternate time-line. :)

He means there wasn’t any news on the new set. I’m sure it was interesting none-the-less, tho. I’m assuming it was about Funimation’s history.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Bang Zoom Dub Blu-Ray sync

If you can fill in the gaps with a voiceless track like Robo suggested, then I’ll totally go out and buy the BDs of Super. I don’t like FUNi’s dub, so I haven’t bothered to watch Super yet.

Well, they've gotten fans excited and hyped up so I'd not be surprised that the pre-order stock will be sold out within an hour, if even. They're going for a really limited quantity. In addition to what the Chaos Master said, I’d like to point out that there are going to be zero made till after pre...

Re: When did this air?

I’d guess that it aired in March of 2014. The poster of that video said it “airs in one week” or something to that effect, and that kind of as is usually aired in the month leading up to the air date I believe.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I mean, I use "Winter." "Christmas" to me refers to the time around December 25th or specifically December, since Winter lasts from November 21st to March 20th. For reference, Spring goes from March 21st to June 20th, Summer from June 21st to September 20th & Fall/Autumn from September 21st to Nove...
