Re: Dragon Ball Super To Air in the UK on Pop!

This is pretty awesome! I think it's fair to assume that this will be the edited dub that airs in Africa and Australia. I wonder if any of our UK friends on the forum would be up to recording it so we can finally have the edited version archived.

Re: Vic Mignogna

Like it or not, this is common practice in many industries. If the company cuts ties with an employee (or talent, or whatever) under acrimonious circumstances, it's super common for whatever projects they had in the works to be altered, shelved, or cancelled outright. It comes with the territory - ...

Re: 10 Years of Dragon Ball (Z) Kai (2009-2019)

Dragon Ball Kai rekindled my love for DB. I mean, it never really went away considering I still played the games a ton, but Kai was my first rewatch of the show in earnest since it aired on Toonami, and it introduced me to the Japanese cast in the show proper; I'd heard them through the games, of co...

Re: Another reason dubs are important.

Is there a Navajo dub? Because if there is I'd love to see some of it. Sounds pretty sweet. I don't think there is. I believe he was using the Navajo language as an example since a few years ago Navajo dubs of Star Wars and Finding Nemo were put out to aid in the language preservation effort. I act...

Re: From 1-10, How would you rate the Funimation Dub so far?

If Kai is a 9, I'd say that Super is probably a 7.5 for me. The script is mostly accurate, but throwing in the additional meme lines brings things down a bit. It still mostly retains the spirit of the original, but they still throw in those lines a little too often for my taste. I also wasn't the bi...

Re: Recommendations for manga like Dragon Ball (in certain ways)

First, a disclaimer: these recommendations are based on the series' respective anime adaptations. I don't read a lot of manga since I tend to be a sucker for good animation, music, and voice casts. However, I'm sure that their manga versions are great if the anime are anything to go by. With that sa...

Re: Is Dragon Ball Your Favorite Anime Ever?

It and Fullmetal Alchemist 2003 are tied for my favorite, but I definitely love a lot of other anime. Eureka Seven, Escaflowne, Eva, Akira, Naruto, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Death Note, Bebop, Haruhi Suzumiya, Ouran High School, and bit of Gundam are among some of my favorites from my child and teen years. I didn'...

Re: What are your top 10 favorite DB films, TV specials and OVAs?

I can see my order fluctuating a bit (other than my number 1, that is), but here goes: 1. Battle of Gods 2. Bardock TV Special (I'm a little biased because of my dub) 3. DBS: Broly (I'm still riding that high, so this may change) 4. Z Movie 5 5. Heya! Son Goku (Again, a little biased because of my d...

Re: Should I let my 9 year old watch DBZ?

The original Dragon Ball had a good bit of sexual humor in it, so you may not want to let him watch it uncut if you're concerned with that sort of thing. You may want to look into getting this edited DVD set of the first arc (dubbed using the Ocean cast) or maybe this edited DVD of the Path to Power...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

So... my fiance and I won a trip to see the dub premiere tomorrow night! We fly out tomorrow morning and we'll get back Friday evening. I would have posted about it earlier, but the last few days have been frantic with real life stuff and trying to get ready for this trip so I've only told friends ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

I wouldn't usually ask this kind of question but since the movie is far away from being released here, gotta ask: do you think Bardock Falls fits perfectly with the climax of Bardock, his scenes and the destruction of planet Vegeta? Yeah, I'd say that track fit pretty well. I'll admit, I'm more par...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

So, this might seem like a dumb question, but how does this compare to the original Broly movie? For a general, non-spoiler description, he has more personality and is way more sympathetic. I genuinely feel that Toriyama gave him some actual depth, a lot of which comes from how he interacts with Pa...

https://twitter.com/Cipher_db/status/1073956578586284032 Omega, did you notice a parallel between Broly and Gohan like Cipher did? I didn't think of that when I was watching, but his reading actually makes a ton of sense! Then again... Broly did smile a few times at the end of the film when Goku wa...

Hi Guys To those who have seen the movie, can anyone tell me if the soundtrack is good? Does it makes you all squirmy with goosebumps? :D That's a yes from me. While not everyone will be down with the wrestling announcer stuff, it transitions into some cool chanting that got me pumped. This film al...

Sorry for the late reply! Our plane just landed and we have a few minutes before our next flight so I can try to answer some of these. Hey OmegaRockman , I have a spoiler question for you. Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

Then something else has had to happen. Which is logical considering from the time Bardock arrives in the planet to the moment Freeza destroys it, there is a timeskip of one month. Bardock keeping the same battle damage and the same outfit throughout the month is bizarre. My bad, I guess I wasn't cl...

You mean he keeps damaged after returning to planet Vegeta or something else happened? Also, can you tell me in details: • The passage of time: is there really a timeskip in the past scene? And then 41 years later we see the present part? • Those AGES that appear on-screen in a trailer happen the s...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

How's the tension? One of main gripes with BOG is that there was too much comedy and too lighthearted. Spoiler-tagged because spoilers. Tone-wise, I think it strikes the balance pretty well between comedic and serious. A lot of that comes from Broly and his relationships with his father, Cheelye, a...

Impressions, now that I've slept on it; while this is pretty general, there will be some spoilers: Movie stuff: - Animation is A+++++, jaw on the floor during 90 percent of the action scenes - Broly is surprisingly the best part of the film, along with Cheelye and Lemo; he actually evokes a lot of p...
