Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

So... my fiance and I won a trip to see the dub premiere tomorrow night! We fly out tomorrow morning and we'll get back Friday evening. I would have posted about it earlier, but the last few days have been frantic with real life stuff and trying to get ready for this trip so I've only told friends a...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

Veronica Taylor as Berryblue Veronica Taylor is voicing a second character? I was under the impression FUNimation wasn't giving cast members more than one DB role these days, outside of pre existing characters of course. Considering she's such a high-profile talent in the anime world, I'm not shock...

Re: Do you like Kikuchi Kai?

Despite the occasionally bad placement and limited tracks, I like Kikuchi Kai a lot and it's my preferred way to watch. It's not perfect, but Kikuchi is what DB is supposed to sound like to me. I also think some of the placements are genuine improvements over Yamamoto.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

So Brianne de Chateau is going to be played by Veronica Taylor. Unless this is some weird coincidence and an unknown actor happens to share that name with her, she will indeed be played by the original English Ash Ketchum.

I think so. Also, I think Bryan Massey was Oolong. I guess Brad Jackson was unavailable.

Re: Were the movie retelling arcs necessary in DBS or should they have just been omitted?

While I don' like them (they're redundantly redundant and look like butt in many places), when it comes to selling the show as a direct continuation to Z/Kai they make sense. Old fans coming in for the first time in a while don't need to know anything other than what they remember from watching the ...

Re: Do you think Dragon Ball Evolution is the Worst Movie Ever?

Not really. There are so many other films that are worse on technical and artistic levels. The worst crime of which Dragonball Evolution is guilty is not believing in its source material, instead making a film that tries to appeal to the lowest common denominator and comes off as bland and uninspire...

Re: "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan" & more coming to U.S. Theaters later this year!

I went last night with my fiance and my theater experience wasn't fantastic, either. There weren't any issues with the picture like you had, MilkMan, but there was no sound at first (luckily they resolved it while they were doing the Crunchyroll trivia segment), and for the first few minutes of the ...

Re: Are there omitted, or shortened scenes from the TOP tournament streamed versions when compared to the Fuji TV run?

I haven't actually checked the individual versions side by side, but the version on Funimation is over 45 minutes long, which leads me to assume that it's the full special. I'll check to be sure, though. Edit: Just checked both Crunchyroll's and Funimation's VRV channels and yes, Funimation's versio...

Re: Are there omitted, or shortened scenes from the TOP tournament streamed versions when compared to the Fuji TV run?

The only thing I can think of is the material cut out of the one-hour special (109 and 110). The individual streaming version of 109 is missing footage at the end (during the Genki-Dama struggle) when compared to the full broadcast. I know that Funimation's streaming version is the full special whil...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

The Null Realm? Seriously? Couldn't they just stick to World of Void? They will always find something to change, that's for sure... But that really isn't a change, just a different way of saying the same thing. It's not like they changed the name to "Cotton Candy World" or something. In fact, I wou...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

Huh... Now I'm thinking Caulifla might be Luci Christian (Nami in One Piece, Uraraka in MHA, Wrath in FMA '03). It's a deeper voice than she usually does, though. Not sure on Kale yet, but I don't think it's Stephanie Sheh.

Edit: That said, I'm not super confident. I may be WAAAY off here.

I believe in that part, the lyric is "chinpunkan, that's all they can say" with the "chinpunkan" coming directly from the original Japanese lyric.

Gonna throw one of my Kafla voice guesses into the hat: I'm certainly not 100 percent on this, but I THINK I hear Madeleine Morris in there. She plays Frederica Greenhill in the Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These dub. I couldn't find a clip on YouTube, but the LoGH dub's on VRV if anyone ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

It just occurred to me that Goku seems to have been referring to Roshi as “old man” fairly frequently, just like the Japanese version. That seems like something worth giving them props for. Also, the end credits said that Chris Ayres voiced Freeza here. That’s nice. Agreed. After the Toei subs usin...
