Re: Has Dragon Ball been remastered to HD or not?
On a side note, Dragon Ball Z appears to have gotten the same treatment. Dragon Box master in 720p. https://i.imgur.com/6AKCuw3.png That's the bitrate, not the resolution. 910kbps would be pathetic for 720p (Netflix typically go around 3mbps for 720p video, for what it's worth...) Fair enough, but ...

Re: Portuguese Dub, perhaps?
I was actually impressed by Vegeta's explanation of the Bruits Waves. I thought that they would chalk it off as nonsense, but then I went back to watch that scene, and they kept everything intact. Actual plot information like that is generally kept intact. The jokes they throw in are more during on...

Re: Portuguese Dub, perhaps?
Yeah, kinda. But unlike early Funi who rewrote entire plot lines for no reason (Bardock the scientist, anyone?), the Portuguese dub only added jokes — the actual “important” lines were all intact (well, as intact as we got them from the highly edited French dub anyway)

Re: Portuguese Dub, perhaps?
Most people who only know of this dub from YouTube clipshows are under the (very mistaken) impression that the dub was filled to the brim with nothing but jokes. That isn't the case at all. They merely occasionally added random jokes here and there where they could fit them. I'd say around 95% of th...

Ignore him, they definitely did use the FUNi transfer. I checked.

Re: Romanized Spellings on Japanese Merchandise
I meant, as far as I know, 烏龍 is not "Woolong" under any standard Chinese romanisation method. It's Wulong in Pinyin and Wulung in Wade-Giles.

Re: Romanized Spellings on Japanese Merchandise
Wait, what about Yamcha? Why don’t you guys use Yumcha? "Yamcha" (or Yam2 Cha4 if you want to indicate tones) is in fact the proper Yale Romanization of the Cantonese name for the dining custom. Under the Jyutping Romanization system the Cantonese name is spelt Jam Caa, while the Mandarin...

He probably didn't dare try to control Vegeta after having failed with another Vegeta in the past.

Apparently the opening and ending subtitles match CR exactly, whereas the episodes themselves are completely retranslated.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
So apparently some people already have the first BD set, and this is what I know so far: - Subtitles for the episodes were completely re-translated by Simmons (as opposed to using the subtitles from Crunchyroll), but for some reason the opening song's subtitles are still the lyrics for the Engrish v...

Re: Color Correcting the Dragon Box - 3 Part Spectacular
I mean... it's on Netflix I'm pretty sure, and it's not like you have to binge, just skim through until you find out. It's not actually that crazy of a suggestion. The whole point is we don't know where the cut-off point is "Nanako and Elekid" ("Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid" in...

No, early Pokémon was scanned onto film. There was a remaster of episode 1 airing a couple years ago on Pokémon Smash that was very much not an upscale.

Re: DragonBall Z Abridged
As for Gohan, he's NOT EVEN 11! He's actually 9! He started off the series at 4, then had a year of training with Piccolo, then the 3 years training for the androids, then another year in the Time Chamber. No. Started the series at 4, had a year of training with Piccolo (so 5), then went to Namek, ...
