Re: Dragon Ball Super Chapter 37 Prediction Thread
You have to be understanding of the fact that it's much easier to give side characters spotlight in a weekly anime. I prefer the anime, but expecting Toyotaro to develop all those characters in a monthly manga is silly. The anime could do it because it aired more than 20 minutes of new content ever...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
If you mean me, that is not what I want. These characters should have a purpose rather than just be FODDER. First of all, I'd like to make it clear that I wasn't trying to make anyone feel called out. That was just an observation about a common argument I see repeated throughout the thread. You hav...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Chapter 37 Prediction Thread
More characters from the anime that got a chance to shine will be tossed aside (and out of the arena) and manga supporters will call it great writing. Re: Dragon Ball Super Chapter 37 Prediction Thread
More characters from the anime that got a chance to shine will be tossed aside (and out of the arena) and manga supporters will call it great writing. Hey man don't put us all in the same boat. No need to insult them like that either. I constantly vouch for characters to get their time to shine and...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Nobody is asking all the 80 fighters to be treated as individual characters; to say anyone is suggesting that shows a concerning misinterpretation of what people, myself included, are complaining about. Oh, but that's exactly what people are complaining about. I don't need to dig all that deep in t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I disagree. Chaper 34 includes a lot of the elements prevalent in Chapter 33. Chapter 35 contributes to that feeling by having Universe 6's strongest fighter (who's also a fairly relevant character in the series) get eliminated particularly early in the tournament. Chapter 36 contributes to that fe...

Re: Super's Manga vs Super's Anime Discussion
Wait people don't like Zamasu in the Manga? Lightbing's points are the same as mine as to why I prefer Toyotaro's version of the character. The anime gave Zamasu some generic attacks that nearly every anime villain have. I don't understand how that makes the anime's version "better" than t...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
This is silly. The notion that anybody who hasn't watched the entirety of the anime adaptation shouldn't be able to talk about it is nonsense. This is an episodic tv show. Every episode should be able to stand up to scrutiny. Me being able to guess how a plot point like that unfolded is exemplary o...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Honestly I agree with you here. I hate how the manga fanboys bash the anime just for the sheer fact they prefer the manga to it. That's fine to prefer the manga, but praising it while shitting on the anime without having even watched it is beyond stupid. You people treat these like they're your spo...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I don't mind the abilities that were given to the fighters in the anime, but I do mind how much that focus dragged out the tournament. If you're referencing how the Trio de Dangers don't have the same abilities in the anime, I'll point to the emphasis on their synergy. So far, nobody else in the to...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I commend the anime's creativity and will to make nearly each fighter engaging in some way. This is exactly my problem. They have these characters doing more things on screen, but the content is not engaging. It just ends up padding the tournament to the point where it's a slog to get through. Not ...

Some appeals of the ToP outside of fan service: -A hectic battle situation, the likes that nobody has ever seen before -mysterious new fighters from different universes with strange abilities and formidable strength -further development of the power of gods (seen through Goku, Vegeta, and Toppo) -f...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
It's not wrong however. It's exactly as he described - from the participants in the ring, Goku firmed a huge Genkidama that everyone believed would defeat Jiren. I know how it went. What I said was that his criticism was wrong since he called everything "remarkably stupid" and none of wha...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Wow, Caulifla looks gorgeous in the manga. Very modern-Toriyama like, I wonder if it was Toyotaro who drew this Caulifla. If it was Toyo, props to him. He's definitely improving over time! Proof I'm not blind. I called it as soon as I saw it that Caulifla that she looked way too Toriyama-like to be...

Bonus pages from DBS Volume 6 have found their way online. Since Viz isn't going to sell these to us for another two years at this rate, I hope it's safe to post them here. Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Lately, people have been saying that the past few chapters were bad like it's a fact. I'm not one to praise Toyotaro indiscriminately, but I still like 35 and 36. "lol Jiren looks like so hermano," "Toppo should have one shot Goku," "MY FAVORITE CHARACTER GOT ELIMINATED REE...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
This Arc was a fanservice arc It's the complete opposite of a fanservice arc. It's a story with strong themes of survival, from the reason that Zeno initiates it all the way down to the rules and structure of the tournament itself. It's a desperate struggle of attrition between teams in an effort t...

Re: Did the spectacle/flashy elements of the anime's TOP tournament do anything for you entertainment wise?
As much as I do hate blatant fan-service, especially to the high degree the anime had been putting out, I did quite enjoy it throughout the ToP. I'm a bit confused on what you mean by flashy/spectacles, do you mean moments such as UI Goku blasting Kefla in the face with his powerful Kamehameha? If s...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I read the whole issue in english online on Viz's site, both 18 and Piccolo were handled horribly. They literally have pointless quick fights and their roles were non-existent. Nonsense. Their roles were to demonstrate the narrative impact both invisible warriors had on the tournament and establish...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
However, Jiren retreats with Dyspo, making him look more cautious and less powerful imo. You would think such an unbeatable person could handle any type of enemy. I actually found that to be great. It makes Jiren another fighter instead of a god. It makes it more believable that he isn't just flyin...
