Re: Do you dislike the Dragon Team vs Moro goons part of the arc?

That is my least favorite part of the Super manga, easily. It drags the pacing of the arc to a halt for essentially a string of cameos. We know it's all a distraction until Moro (and Goku and Vegeta) arrive, but unlike similar portions in the original run (Saiyan arc), there isn't the tension of a s...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 96 - Official Discussion Thread

Way late on this, but I finally read the chapter the other day. Enjoyed it! Reminded me of how, even when I'm not super enthused about reading DB or DB Super prior to picking up a portion of the manga, I almost always immediately have a good time once I do so. In this case, I wasn't feeling like I n...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Love Toriyama's art, modern or not. Love his Saiyaman X-1 and X-2 designs and corrections. Love his Clean God design. Would be over the moon if he drew an entire arc or even just a chapter himself (even though we all know he won't). Simple as. I should clarify that I love Toriyama's current art sty...

This is off-topic from strength discussion, but Kaioshin appears in the final chapter of the Moro arc, having appealed on Merus’ behalf to the Grand Priest.

No one would be missing anything for stopping with the end of the original Dragon Ball, and it doesn’t make the story feel more complete, which is kind of the holy grail for a sequel, I feel.

It is still, however, fun.

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

How else do you explain his absence in the Moro arc along with Old Kai. Luckily I don't have to, because Shin is in the Moro arc. Re: Granolah and Toronbo: I think either you just have to roll with it for what it is--a brief gloss to explain why Granolah can't/won't shoot up past Beerus, or justify...

Re: What if Masako Nozawa dies? (God forbid)

There will be a recast of Goku when Nozawa steps down or passes away. I don't wish it, but it's inevitable.

I have a feeling her advanced age is potentially one of the reasons DB isn't seeing a long-form TV anime right now. I kind of doubt we'll see another one until there's a recast.

Re: Do you like Super?

I don't like the anime at all. It has its moments--ones where it reminds me of why I like DB --scattered here and there throughout, which almost made the initial viewing more frustrating. It's the only major DB series between the lot of the main mangas and anime series I don't care for, and it isn't...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

A rare Toriyama L on the Trunks and Goten corrections, honestly. I think it would have been better to have kept them in sync with the general style Toyotaro's been using, and his original rough seems a bit more dynamic and of a piece with the world. Maybe some of the discomfort in the art I've sense...

Whoops...didn't read clearly. The Facebook ad I saw stated that the color manga version of DBS: Super Hero is already out for $80 Hong Kong dollars ($10 USD). My bad! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02TuodbUdAprEaEpzDWJkjqLpoF8tNuKwqyHsvaUrcSL7k7tSwdFFXwZuQD3k8dgtNl&id=10006454...

Lets say there's a 2nd tournament of power, and the first nine fighters are selected as Goku Vegeta Gohan Granolah Broly Piccolo Majin Buu Gamma 1 Android 17 Would you find the last fighter more interesting as Gotenks (Goten and Trunks are allowed to fuse beforehand and count as one), or Uub? Who w...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 95 - Official Discussion Thread

Putting aside any gripes about this being known story content, because I do feel that ultimately this is just making good on its own pacing as a manga arc, with the long front porch of the prequel chapters, I'm a little torn on the execution of this chapter in particular. On the one hand, the origin...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Manga Chapter 95 - Official Discussion Thread

As much as I enjoyed the fight choreography in this chapter, it somehow managed to drag what was 4 minutes in the film into 45 pages. That is absurd. I don’t know that that’s really worth looking at at this point. We already know the same plot beats exist in a more compact form in the film. This no...

Goku can and does surpass Black within the same arc, so yes?

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread

Goku Black’s potential is no different from Goku’s. They are the same body. What Goku Black has is the genius to know exactly how to draw out said power, but brains isn’t power. Goku Black essentially gets a whole new round of near-death-power-ups to use with an already post-U6 Goku body, which is ...

Hasn't it, though? That's why we've had pseudonym appearances from the likes of Dameon Clarke and James Marsters, I thought.

(Although, yeah, FUNimation doesn't do union productions and there's that dubbing clause either way.)

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 7/10/23!)

Episode 22 sure does get by on the rule of cool to explain why characters aren't more proactive--and it easily could have been written, even with largely similar direction, so that they were (just have some kind of barrier protect Dr. Mu while he works, explain that they can't risk blasting it until...

Re: Which Super arc comes closest to Toriyama's proposed "Vegeta movie"?

As others have noted, the Granolah arc feels like it gives him the most substantial focus. He shares a triple spotlight with Goku and Granolah, but I think Vegeta's role feels the most prominent and fleshed out. It really does feel like his arc, and he's the most engaging and likable in it he's been...
