Re: Do you wish Dragon Ball had more diverse powers?
I do desperately wish that DB had more varied skillsets that would give each of its characters something with which to stand out and be useful. Yes, I love that list of abilities posted above, whet my imagination considering how Goku might counter them, and then I weep at the (likely true) response ...

Baby On Board - Dragon Ball Dissection: The Baby Arc Part 11 It's Phase 3 of the shift from DBs to Baby! We're balanced on a razor edge. It's equal parts adventure and action. Baby's On Board! Oh, and Pan makes friends with a deer. Listen to me somehow give this iconic (???) scene all the attention...

Three Doofuses and a Baby - Dragon Ball Dissection: The Baby Arc Part 10 Were you placing your bets onto when Baby would show up in this arc? Well, we're here! On Dr. Mu's planet, the heroes learn to do the twist. What's Giru been doing? Twist. Trunks? Twist. Dr. Mu? Baby twist. Baby? Mu twist. Don...

Re: Racism in the Dragon Ball fandom
Obatchaman is hardly a random child. He's basically the Kuririn of Dr. Slump! The Caramel Man lineage would weep at such an insult. Dr. Mashirito didn't put such effort into building robots for his work to be dismissed like this!

Re: Why does Vegeta still call himself Prince?
A ritual or coronation is usually required in order for a new King to be installed. With the planet and his people dead, there is no one really to give him an official coronation. So the title of Prince is stuck in time as was said. I certainly can't speak for all monarchies, but we got to see a su...

And IIRC, she ends up getting a DB out of nowhere after she gets kicked out of the tower... again. That's when she goes to get Goku who was fighting Rildo. I don't remember that DB appearing out of of the blue and landing in Pan's hands ever being explained. Was it Giru? maybe I missed the explanat...

Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 6/26/23!)
I'm very glad I've never bothered to watch episodes 2-15 of GT, honestly, after seeing your retrospective of it so far. So very little of actual consequence happens, nor is there a lot to enjoy otherwise. Really shows FUNimation was more right than not to just skip them & make that American-onl...

Hyper Mega Lame - Dragon Ball Dissection: The Baby Arc Part 9 Dragon Ball Dissection is here! It's time for Planet M2. Goku fights a bunch of robot dudes. Giru gets a medal for being the bestest boy. And Pan sneaks into the tower... over and over and over again until we're begging for it to end. Ch...

Re: The one main quality and the one main flaw for every movie
As I already said above, it feeling like video game was intentional and IMO a great part of the charm. The remake by taking it away sucked all the soul off. Had it gone all the way with that idea, I'd agree with you. However, it cuts out all the interesting parts from the game. Rather than feeling ...

DRAGON BALL: Curse of the Blood Rubies (The Legend of Shenlong) MAIN QUALITY: The best the first story arc has ever looked. MAIN FLAW: Rushed pacing with most of the characters feeling superfluous DRAGON BALL: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle (The Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle) MAIN QUALIT...

Re: Dragon Ball GT Storyline breakdown
Also i disagree with seeing Black Star and Baby arcs as a single story as well. It's like calling Saiyan arc as a part of Frieza arc. I legitimately find it difficult to see how anybody could see it as anything but one arc. Where does the Black Star Dragon Ball Arc end? What is its conclusion? How ...

Re: Dragon Ball GT Storyline breakdown
Well, I haven't decided yet how I'll handle the rest. I initially assumed that Super #17 and Dragon Whatsamacalits would be two separate arcs. But I have had a few people say they're one story too. And since I already think the first 40 are one story, I don't want to dismiss that idea out of hand. I...

Re: Criticism
Cue Chris Sabat's unprompted criticism of Joji Yanami's Kaio performance in the middle of a panel that had nothing to do with dub vs. sub differences (complete with a cringe imitation of Yanami to boot). Very unprofessional and disrespectful to the recently deceased Yanami. He's very much that old ...

Re: Rock The Dragon Intro Spoilers, Questions, and Thoughts
The interesting thing is, if you were introduced to DBZ through the Toonami reruns, you'd almost never see the opening anyway since they discarded their shows' openings in favor of their own in-house intros (except for Johnny Quest for some reason). They only first showed the intros when they aired ...

Re: Criticism
It amazes me how people continue to bring up the Sean Schemmel thing *13 year later* as a bad faith attack. Well, by this point, I don't even know if it's bad faith more than unquestioned Internet lore. I'm just amazed how often it's brought up whenever someone has a bone to pick, despite clearly no...

The Abusiveness of Pan - Dragon Ball Dissection: The Baby Arc Part 8 Really took out the dissecting scalpel for this one. I feel it's pretty common for the fanbase to find GT Pan annoying. There's a lot I like about her, but her weirdly abusive behavior towards Giru is not one them. So let's take a...

Weirdo Doll Villain - Dragon Ball Dissection: The Baby Arc Part 7 Dragon Ball GT is back! We got cults and fights and... that weird villain who turns Pan into a doll. Yeesh. Here we are. Re: Are you done with Dragon Ball?
I'm turning 30 this year and that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to like cartoons, but it does mean it takes a lot more for one to suck me in than it did at 20, let alone 9. It feels like just yesterday that you were 16! I'm certainly not done with DB, although it does oftentimes feel like an o...
