Re: Did General Blue save the RR arc?
The colonel Violet stuff was great in the anime. As everyone was retreating because of Goku's assault, Red mistook her for staying only to see her steal everything

Did General Blue save the RR arc?
Now I'm not sure about you guys, but General Blue made the Red Ribbon arc good. Not to say the Silver and White stuff was bad, but they were kind of bland. Murasaki being the exception. Blue on the other hand was a fun and cheesy kind of villain that made me enjoy the time he was on the pages of the...

Re: How relatable is Vegeta?
I think what made Vegeta relatable was more of how much he trained but Goku with his natural talent would surpass him. This came more from the Buu arc when he went on a speech on how no matter how hard he pushed himself, he could never keep up with Goku's talent for fighting. So in a way I can see w...

Re: Could have Dragon Ball survived in the English Speaking world without Cartoon Network?
I'm surprised no one has brought up the Made in Japan morning block on Fox Family. Sure it was reruns of Digimon and Mega Man but it had Flint the Time Detective, Monster Rancher and maybe BeyBlade but that one could have been on the block once Jetix took over. Also what was cool about the Made in J...

Re: The All-Purpose Bardock & Goku Thread
While I agree that Bardock should just stay dead. Although videogame canon likes to keep him around. I'm not going to lie and say he doesn't look bad ass as a super saiyan. However, him meeting Goku will mean nothing. Goku doesn't even know who his parents are, especially since he had the head traum...

Re: Could have Dragon Ball survived in the English Speaking world without Cartoon Network?
I think it's a mix between both. Yeah it would have done well, but the constant reruns and the heavy promotion of the series from CN definitely helped boost it. Now I first saw the series on Saturday morning block, and the first episodes I watched were the Ginyu Force showing up. However that was on...

Re: What would a reboot have to do in order to comply to today's standards?
The consequences in the original comic were light, though. That doesn't really tackle the issue that his sexual assault was still being played for laughs. At least the Red Ribbon Army soldiers trying to rape Blooma were almost immediately killed. ...also one of them was a racist caricature. Yikes. ...

Re: What would a reboot have to do in order to comply to today's standards?
The main difference between Toriyama's Roshi compared to modern day's Roshi. Roshi in the original series, while perverted, there was always consequences to his actions. Anytime he tried to peep or grope, he was always struck back or that he would fail. Like when he was trying to peep on Bulma, he w...

Re: Most underwhelming character death in the franchise?
Remember how in the anime version of Resurrection F, Piccolo was killed? I sure didn't until just now. He just goes out with a "nothing death". That might be the most underwhelming one, though maybe it fits better as a candidate for the most forgettable one. Pretty much this. It was alrea...

Re: The hills we choose to die on and the fights we battle for when it comes to Dragon Ball
I meant that if its successful enough it can be both evergreen (As in enduring success) AND have an actual ending. The term evergreen franchise was used as early as Kai. I don't know if it's the right term but I've heard it used in relation to franchises that go on and on without ending. Regardless...

Re: How would you have handled GT?
I would have kept the first two arcs roughly the same. Except the wish of Porunga made Goku his normal size again. If Porunga could do that they would've done that in series already. They side stepped it by saying it would put a strain on his body. Or something close to that. I think they just said...

Re: How would you have handled GT?
I would have kept the first two arcs roughly the same. Except the wish of Porunga made Goku his normal size again. Super 17 I would do a hard rewrite, I am not sure how I wuld do that but I would beef up Uub's role as he would give 17 more of a fight. As for the Shadow Dragons i would do a few one o...

The Unofficial Chinese spinoff
So I have been watching Mondocool's videos on Zeroverse and it was a chinese unofficial sequal to the series. Also from what I gathered from Marb's DBGT and Zeroverse cleanup projects, was it just those two comics in the magazine? Was there anything else of note in it? Any other fan made manga? What ...

Re: Is it fair to say that Dragon Ball is no longer marketed to kids in North America?
I feel 2013 was the last year it was truly marketed to kids. It left both Nick and CW kids Vortex thing around that time. It was back on CN/Adult Swim the following year. Showing the Kai series unaltered which was nice not to see the monstrosity of Blue Popo any more.

Re: Yet another filler thread
Here is how some of my favorite filler ended up helping out the over all story. 1. The 5 episodes between the RR arc and the 22nd Tournament, I think is delightful. It helps expand the DB world be Goku traveling and helping others. I really like his Fox friend he made. I wish he would come back for ...

Now that I think about it, is this Chautzu's(I suck spelling his name) first seen win in manga form? Anime wise it was against Guldo.

Personally I don't mind the monthly schedule. It gives it a bit more hype the closer to the 20th each time for me.

Re: I've been thinking and honestly One Piece seems superior to Dragon Ball?
One Piece is my 2nd favorite manga series behind Dragon Ball. Sure it is long but it adds to the overall epic adventure this series is trying to convey. Even at it's worst chapters, I still find joy which is the same I can not say for other shonen series like Naruto or Bleach. When they have bad cha...
