Re: Is Toei’s Kale supposed to have a crush on Caulifla?
Do the people responsible for Japanese entertainment even care about appealing to the LGBT community? The country’s politics are complicated in general, but they seem to be pretty firmly on the Conservative side of things. They do far more than Western fans think they do. While there's some unfortu...

Re: Is Toei’s Kale supposed to have a crush on Caulifla?
Yes! I'm actually glad the anime staff went that route instead of the boring stuff the manga did. Episode #114's climax pretty much made it clear for me that Kale has romantic feelings for Caulifla. The annoying this they might never address it and will leave it as a subtext. Like in a "wink wi...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" DVD and Blu-ray Sales
I remember someone once saying DBS' sales on DVD & Blu-ray are due to it not appealing to the otaku market. Any truth to this? There are quite a few DB fans who are otakus. But, yeah the percentage is far less when compared to a big late night hit anime. Besides, DB makes it money through other...

Re: Top 5 Most Controversial Modern DB Plots
Rapist Roshi. That was an actual problem worth getting mad about. The series would be better off never ever doing it again. Rest of the in-universe stuff, while frustrating isn't controversial.

Wiki lists worldwide gross which is $85 million. Out of which it made $70+ million in Japan alone. $77.1 million to be precise. It came out in 2013, so obviously exchange rates of that year is taken. ANN got the calculation wrong.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
The target demo isn't kids. Kids as in toddlers and pre-teens. Not saying they don't matter or young children who like DB don't exist, they do. But, just like in the old days the demo skews teens(12+) and adults(mostly 20-34). It is the case with most shounen titles in fact, but especially old title...

Nagamine dreaming of 10billion lol. No way that's happening unless of course he means overseas sales combined. But, even with that I doubt.

Nope. Shingeki is shounen. It is published in a shounen magazine.

Re: Is Dragon Ball still your favorite shonen?
The "shounen is primarily for boys" is highly inaccurate. It is just a marketing statement. There is no single target audience for shounen cause the target audience is pretty diverse. It is a common misconception among the anime/manga fandom. This survey by Nikkei 4-5 years ago showed that...

Re: Is Dragon Ball still your favorite shonen?
It never was. I'm not much of a shounen geek though. My anime preferences lie elsewhere. But, out of the 20 or so shounen battle anime I have seen, Dragon Ball is outclassed by most of them.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Lol. More PR bullshit from Hayashida. The "DBS episode 5 had newbie animators" dude. All major films have the luxury of providing a rough cut and having time to do corrections before the final version. The HeroAca movie is the most recent example. This guy knows nothing about the industry.

Re: Official "DB Super 2018 Movie" Discussion Thread
Thank god I gave up on this corporate hack of a franchise or else I would be mad as hell. They got good staff this time which is kind of attracting me, but nope not going to give these corporate bastards my money.
My two cents.
My two cents.

Re: Does the sexualization of Bulma at the start of the series bother anyone?
Hmm. I have been thinking about this myself a lot lately. I certainly have a changed opinion on this topic from before. I kind of, sort of found Toriyama's delivery of the Roshi gag funny before, but I think its cheap and tasteless humor ultimately. I'm fed up of sexual humor in anime/media in gener...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue 2.0
Was his contributions any good on those two episodes? Standard work and just like most he wasn't able to show his full capabilities. #8 was kind of dreadful. Dragged a 30 sec joke to almost an entire half. The episode director is also to be blamed though. Poorly paced and had some iffy layouts iirc...

I wish that was the case cause my god are the producers blatantly milking it in the shittiest way possible, but that is not happening. Dragon Ball will be back on TV within a year or two.

Mitsuka got owned. Super does it yet again. I hope he gets to work on something next where he doesn't have to compromise this much. Kitaro might be a nice place or best case return to Precure where he belongs.

Re: Does Dragon Ball even feel like a story anymore?
It is more nostalgia driven then ever. It is ridiculous how much fanservice they have thrown in DBS. Although to be fair, it all started from F. I dunno if its Toriyama or the production committee members or both, but yeah I can totally see and even agree to an extent why you might think the show ha...

Seiyuus and the animation staff. But, I dropped it in mid-ToP cause I couldn't take it anymore. Enough is enough. But, still that was my reason for sticking with the shitshow that is DBS for what 90 something episodes. I respect the staff.

Hisakawa Aya according to some JP fans, but its not confirmed yet. Sailor Mercury/Ami herself. Also, Kero-chan from CCS and my personal favorite Yuri fron Heartcatch Precure. I still have my doubts about her getting Blooma down completely, but the actor is excellent and experienced. And, she is affi...
