Re: "Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters" FUNimation English Dub Official Announcement and Discussion Thread
It's disappointing that their scene never made it to the airwaves in full. It was funny as hell, and a great meta reference to how far the dub has come. But part of me finds it hard to believe that the folks at Toei are so well-versed in American Internet culture that they'd object to this scene bei...

The future of the Dragon Boxes
A few days ago, on February 8, to be exact, my Facebook memories page floated to the surface a link to an old survey from FUNimation. The survey page is actually still up. https://s.zoomerang.com/r/2M5ZFGS?sm=4UTHGa1esTyq6OYp833Q1g%3d%3d FUNimation put out this survey four years ago, gauging interes...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread
Mai is Julie Maddalena. Almost certain on that. I'm not hearing Nadolny at all.
The Bang Zoom! dub is using Shuu, while the FUNimation dub for some reason reverted back to using Shou.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread
I swear, I heard Pilaf call Shu 'Shou' or 'Show' in this episode. I'm pretty sure that happened in Resurrection 'F' too. I think it's an old pronunciation that appeared in the 1995 dub with the Canadian cast and was corrected for the in house dub of Dragon Ball ? No idea why it would be making a co...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Bang Zoom Dub Official Discussion Thread
I'm enjoying watching the dub just as a different English taste (and take) than what we normally get. And it's very interesting to hear them use terms like 'ki', and 'god', while even our uncut dub from FUNimation prefers 'deity'. Kinda makes me wish we could get an Ocean dub of Super as well. heh L...

Re: Bang Zoom Dragon Ball Super Dub
This isn't the first time a Dragon Ball property has been dubbed into English by a California studio. Although we in America can't really see this Bang Zoom dub intended for the Asian markets, it's a lot of fun to see clips, and to hear a different take on the characters we've heard dubbed not only ...

So, the first English dub of Dragon Ball Super ends up being produced in Los Angeles, by Bang Zoom, for Asia.

Re: "The most accurate subtitle track ever"?
I don't blame Simmons for keeping the original DVD subtitles as literal as possible. Sub fans were foaming at the mouth to finally have the ability to purchase the Japanese track on DVD, and to be able to see what the characters are *really* saying, when back then, all we had were fansubs. He probab...

FUNi is basically acknowledging how popular the Dragon Box releases were.
I'm still holding out hope that we some day get a Dragon Ball Dragon Box release.

Re: Why are they allowed to show Goku's penis in Dragonball?
When Cartoon Network aired Dragon Ball Z uncut from episodes 1-53, they censored nothing. Even Adult Swim generally covers up similar male nudity, although they let a few in Shin-chan slide by.

Re: Questions about the 1995 Dragon Ball dub
At least in my area, the original Dragon Ball dub aired around 11:30 AM or noon.
Looking back at it, I'm really fond of the original dub production here. They didn't shy away from the concept of death, either.

Wow, had to catch up on 150+ pages of this thread.
Surprised to see Jaco. While he has officially appeared in English Weekly Shonen Jump by Viz, a lot of folks won't know who he is. Thankfully, we have something called Google.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Question: What's up with the shortened ending credits? The manga retrospective goes straight from Goku meeting Bulma to Dragon Ball Z stuff. But if you watch the creditless closing from the Extras menu, the manga pages cover pretty much all of Dragon Ball first.

Glad to hear the Yamamoto score on Toonami.
I'm also pleased that the complete opening and closing credits aired, even if it meant losing the next episode preview.
