Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?

Yeah I'm pretty surprised by this. I'll have to check my local Target but for some reason with my luck I feel like they won't have it. All Targets are different but in mine, it was in a small section right next to the Switch games with other anime and gaming collectables. Check it out when you get ...

Re: Vic Mignogna

The thing is even if he's somehow been proven to be in the right this entire time, he's created such a colossal rift with his former employer and all of his ex-coworkers, he's still never getting work from FUNimation (or Rooster Teeth) again. So Broly will be getting a new English Voice Actor? Abso...

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?

I’m not a big statue collector - like, at all - but I saw this in Target and for $25 I really wanted it. https://i.imgur.com/tQPaNdr.jpg I have not seen this at target!! I do love this statue and am sad that Goku never used the power pole in the film I was really surprised to see it there, really. ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

"Hardcore" fans won, hardcore fans lost. Casual Hardcore Western Fans won, I think you mean. --- I understand where VegettoEX is coming from, but I'm with Car Aznable on this one. Similarly to the horrible working conditions at Telltale, both buying and not buying the product can be inter...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Also just found this looking back, Funimation confirmed with ANN that sales were not a factor in its decision to discontinue production on the Dragon Ball Z Blu-rays. Funimation added that "the cost incurred to restore these shows has outweighed the suggested retail price we were able to pass ...

Oh man if you think even if he loses the lawsuit there won't always be someone commenting on everything FUNimation posts with some kind of Vic hashtag or Broly gif, you don't know the internet.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I had a really long post typed out but in the end I've decided just to ask a question: If the preorders for this set failed, would FUNimation actually see the complaints, go back to do it right, and try again? Or would they take it to mean nobody actually wants the series in 4:3, look what we tried ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

5 years later, Funimation releases a new DBZ blu-ray set and claims it fixes all the problems “hardcore” fans had with the 30th anniversary set. Footage is revealed, it has grain, colors look good, and then, 16:9. “They didn’t like the 4:3 release,” says a Funimation employee in a blog post. “So we...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

The green tint is definitely Toei’s fault. For whatever unknown reason, they sent out two different versions to FUNimation and Manga UK. Ajay speculated that because the FUNi release is 24fps (theatrical standard) and the Manga UK one is 23.976fps (home video standard), the FUNi release is the theat...

Re: Packaging: Orange Bricks AU/UK Vs. US

Was it Madman or Manga UK with the Baba episodes being messed up on the Japanese side? I don't think it matters if the footage is better than other footage if you have to play games with your player to play the episodes in order.

Re: The Broli movie will use dub names in its subtitles, at Toei's request. Could this become the new "standard"?

That's the one. Amazon UK has one used copy from a questionable store with an 88% rating for £40, and I only found one seller on eBay with it selling for what would end up being $125 shipped to the US, so I'd end up way overpaying for the Resurrection F collector's edition which I could still get ne...

Re: What's your most recent Dragonball purchase?

It's the same reason I ended up placing an order, not so much to fill space on the shelf but I just wanted a version on Blu-ray. I have the Dragon Boxes on DVD, now I want it on Blu-ray. I also happen to like the packaging, and I think the art book will have some good stuff in it. It's better than w...

Re: The Broli movie will use dub names in its subtitles, at Toei's request. Could this become the new "standard"?

After some time to mull it over I think I'll cancel the collector's edition order and just keep the UK steelbook. Yeah I'll have two steelbooks, but I'm a completionist and it looks like there were also UK collector's editions for Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, with RoF still readily available a...

Re: Vic Mignogna

This is my opinion of course but now that the Blu-ray is out and you can switch between the Japanese and the English versions at will, you can hear just how bad Vic Migogna's performance as Broli is compared to Bin Shimada. Obviously you could do this with the old movies, but all the focus right now...

Re: The Broli movie will use dub names in its subtitles, at Toei's request. Could this become the new "standard"?

The news Manga UK hinted at yesterday is an upgrade for all standard Blu-ray sets to a limited edition collector's set for the same price. If you have the standard Blu-ray (not the steelbook) preordered, you'll get upgraded automatically. If not, you can order it. Apparently it's a 'once it's gone ...

Re: Packaging: Orange Bricks AU/UK Vs. US

Manga UK packaging is definitely superior but I have to say, if I owned them on my shelf, having every set with episode numbers except for the first one would trigger the hell out of me.
