Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Manga UK Home Release Thread
Zavvi has the Collector's Edition at £50 more than the standard one. That can't be right, can it? The only significant difference is an art book. Either way, the landscape box looks like it's be annoying to actually keep on the Blu-ray shelf (my guess: the book and art cards each go behind the first...

Re: Dragon Ball Season set (Trailers)
They're not exact matches, but here's how a couple those shots look on the actual 'Season 5' DVD: https://slow.pics/c/fIDz4hqh . I don't know which scenes the other ones come from. The really frustrating one is Season One, because the unfiltered clips on the trailer look so nice, although other thre...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks
I expect the steelbooks to be limited to the point when the sales figures don't justify the packaging any more, at which point they'll release standard versions with no fanfare.

Re: DBZ had its own Standards And Practices Lady and other syndication facts
And weirdly, Toei actually did animate One Piece in 30fps (well, 29.97) for a couple-hundred episodes (from Marineford to, I think, Zou) and the smoother motion in stuff like pans was very noticeable. The Crunchyroll streams converted them to ~24fps though, making them look jerky instead.

Re: People who have managed to have extremely low contact with the manga.
The funny thing is I've read more of Super than the original (I read the first volume years ago and I own the Viz Full Colors, but I still haven't gotten around to reading the Freeza arc) because the Super's anime and manga supposedly deviate from each other more. I'm in the same boat of waiting for...

Re: Dragon Ball Super To Air in the UK on Pop!
I have to wonder what they did to Episode 89 to get it suitable for broadcast. I wonder if LostTimeLord happened to record that one Funnily enough, that's the only episode from "Series 2" that didn't record properly (due to Vegas crashing my PC while it was on). Fortunately, I recorded th...

Re: Is it fair to say that Dragon Ball is no longer marketed to kids in North America?
What do your mean, "heavily" redubbed? I was under the impression that the changes in dialogue in edited Funi Super were on par with the changes in dialogue in Nicktoons Kai vs uncut Funi Kai I'm speaking about DBS in comparison to other kid's shows moreso than Dragon Ball in general. Pre...

Re: Is it fair to say that Dragon Ball is no longer marketed to kids in North America?
Since we’re on the subject of MPAA ratings, I was actually pretty surprised back when Dragonball Evolution was given a PG rating. [...] Fox must’ve agreed that Dragon Ball is strictly kid’s stuff, if they didn’t even bother shooting for a PG-13. The in-progress version they initially showed the BBF...

Re: Would Buu Kai be in 4:3 if it didn't air in Japan like originally intended?
It was announced that it would become mandatory for new content to be 16:9, which put them in a tricky situation since although it's old footage, it's a new show. [...] With Boo Kai, that law was already in place, so they had no incentive to do anything but 16:9. Is this just a thing that the broad...

Re: SAY-IN - SPECIAL BEAM CAN-IN - SUN GOKU - DESTRUCTO DISK | Why does Dragon Ball STILL suffer with these shortcomings
I would presume a British equivalent would be a midlands/brummy accent As a Brit, I've imagined how Goku would sound in British English many times. The thing is, we have sooo many "country bumpkin" type accents it's beyond a joke. Now I'm imagining Goku as a Yam Yam and I'll get nothing p...

Re: Blue brick vs singels
They're both still chocolate. You just have neglected to remove the wrapping from one of them. But only one of them has a chance of the flavour being ruined by accidentally eating the wrapper with the chocolate. My point is that the "Blue Bricks" are recognised as 24p to the point where t...

Re: Blue brick vs singels
The reason why the files from the Green Bricks come out without any visible interlacing artefacts is because it's properly flagged in the IFO files in a way that most modern ripping software detects the pulldown pattern. [...] Both the Green Bricks, and the Blue Bricks use this interlaced format. A...

Re: Blue brick vs singels
The bricks, just like literally every NTSC DVD ever, are interlaced. Literally the only way to get a progressive image on a DVD is if you have native 30fps material on an NTSC DVD. The "blue bricks" aren't interlaced, but the "green bricks" are. As I understand it, the actual vi...

Re: Will Brexit affect DB (Anime) releases in UK/US?
Just me speculating as a layman: While we'll have technically left the EU on Saturday, the withdrawal agreement should be in place by then* to prevent issues with trading from the EU. Presumably the importation costs only begin either a) once the UK has actually made a proper deal or b) on December...

Re: Saban Funi "Battle Stars" Censorship
Such as removing footage of Vegeta's fist actually hitting Trunks. No battle stars here though; carefully placed frames of black and white combined with the way it's cut, etc. tells you all you need to know without actually seeing the physical violence. Westwood Uncut And for the sake of comparison...
