Re: Funimation's MVP cast for DBZ

I think I'd go with Justin Cook. He voices Super Buu, Raditz and Dende and was one of the ADR directors of Dragon Ball. He is also the Director of production at Funimation. Since he started he's worked on every incarnation of Dragon Ball in some way. He's the man responsible for the dubs that get pr...

Re: Whatever happened to Dale Kelly?

Oh cool thanks for the info and for the link Codarik! With all the guys who did the score for the series there's probably a lot of tracks held back by Funimation. It's kind of a shame, maybe someday they'll see the light of day.

Re: Whatever happened to Dale Kelly?

Wow I didn't know that. While i prefer the original score the music in the specials are pretty good and definitely fit the standard of music Funimation was using at the time. It would of been neat to see what kind of tracks he could of produced. Who knows maybe if the whole music thing didn't happen...

Re: Funniest Dub Lines (FUNimation/Ocean Dubs)

In the original dub where Krillin, Gohan and Dende summon Porunga. There's an exchange between Krillin and Gohan about getting 3 Wishes and Gohan goes, "Namek, where balls are born." I think the line is more silly than funny if that makes sense lol It definitely makes me chuckle a bit. Sou...

Whatever happened to Dale Kelly?

Mr. Kelly participated in the original Funimation dub as Captain Ginyu and the Narrator from the Ginyu saga to the the end of the Cell Games. He was also involved in the music department for the Bardock Special. (Was he involved with tracks from the tv series?) All of his work has been redubbed for ...

Wow did Super Buu have a filter? I always just assumed Justin Cook redid his lines for the remastered sets. Guess that's one of the filters I never noticed as a kid lol that's filter power!

Re: TV Recordings

I've recorded several episodes on Toonami. I remember recording the Ginyu saga reruns and some of the fights with Frieza in his 2nd form that was around 2003 or so. When Toonami had the Best of Buu week I recorded episodes from that week. For the original Dragon Ball I recorded the fight with Jackie...

Re: Edited "Cell Games" VHS Series never fully released?

I don't think Funimation ever finished their edited video release for the Cell Games saga. Every time I visited the mall video stores only carried the uncut versions for the remaining volumes. I think in magazines where you could order them only had the uncut versions also. This saga was one of the ...

Re: Chewbacca was in GT?

When I saw Peter Mayhew listed in the credits as a kid I was wondering if that really was Chewbacca. It was pretty neat to hear him in something Dragon Ball related, would of never knew if he wasn't credited. Oh the voice of the Baseball coach was Rafael Palmeiro. He's credited as "Special Than...

Re: Was Stephanie Nadolny Really That Bad As Gohan?

I thought she was great as Gohan, I've always enjoyed her voice. When Stephanie came back to re-record her lines in the early Ginyu and Frieza sagas she really nailed a young Gohan, I like to reference the "Super Gohan" scene in the Frieza saga. There she sounds great bringing out Gohan's ...

Re: Opinions on the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball

It's not 100% perfect but I love the dub for Dragon Ball. Plus Dragon Ball had some great performances from the voice actors. Brice Armstrong's narration is great, seems to be a fan favorite! Mike McFarland gets to shine as Roshi, I really enjoyed Laurie Steele as Krillin and of course Stephanie Nad...

Re: Official "Show off your Dragonball Crap" Thread

Back in December I emailed Stephanie Nadolny. In my email I told her I was a big fan of her voice work on Dragon Ball and her work as a singer. I asked if she would autograph a few things for me and she said absolutely, she just requested that I send my stuff in a self address stamped envelope. I s...

Yeah like rereboy said that's the way the Vizbig translated the line, it's also where I copied it straight from my copy. lol That's cool how it's translated the same into other languages with the "or". Roshi-We do not learn martial arts to pick fights or to impress girls who will say ooo, ...

Re: Quote your favorite Dragon Ball related lines.

Roshi says some good stuff to live by. -One does not study martial arts in order to win a fight or have a girl say, "ooo, your so strong!!" One masters those arts for health in mind and body, for the ability to live one's life as courageously, uniquely, and energetically as one wishes! -Mo...

Re: Your Dragon Ball-Related Purchasing Plans for 2014

I plan on buying the upcoming colored editions for the Dragon Ball Z manga. I own random volumes and Viz Bigs so I've never completed buying the manga in any form, so that's the goal. I'd welcome more Dragon Box releases and material that hasn't been released like Battle of Gods or specials. Kind of...

Well besides all the Dragon Ball/Z/GT/Kai stuff, I'd say Yu Yu Hakusho. I marathon it from beginning to end every year and I just enjoy the heck out of that show. Some of my other favorites,The Slayers, Kenichi The Mightiest Disciple,Case Closed and Tiger & Bunny. I pretty much enjoy the action,...

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?

My first Dragon Ball DVD was the edited version of The Path to Power. I got it back in 2003 at a Target store. Followed by the Arrival and Showdown from the edited Saiyan saga from Suncoast the same year. It's funny because I had no DVD player at the time and it was hard to find the VHS versions for...
