I've always preferred Super Saiyan God for being the one form appearance that doesn't override Goku's personality.

If everyone else (even Roshi, dammit!) from U7 is gonna last this long, then I don't see the point of writing Krillin out of the story so soon. It's not like someone can't just plow through and take out half the U7 fighters at once whenever Toei gets ready.

This is why I don't think Manga Vegeta bothered to learn Super Saiyan God until he realized it wasn't totally useless. It probably didn't take a lot of effort to learn, but it was still something he never knew the pros and cons of until observing Goku vs. Hit.
