As Krillin once put it, many of the Z Fighters used to be enemies. The very fact that they all became allies with each other in the end probably makes it easy for them to get along, outside of Vegeta who is a sociopath up until he dies while Majin.

Yajirobe of all people didn't learn how to fly and he's been much stronger than Roshi ever since he was introduced.

What's sad is Gohan and Videl is the only shipping in the Manga that's actually good in my opinion... One of the only good aspects of the Boo Arc too.
