Re: Which arcs do you think each recurring character was best and worst potrayed in and why?
I think I'm going to break the format here and pick a single character: Bulma. My favorite arc for her was the Android/Cell arc, since that's where we really got to see her shine as a brilliant and competent scientist. It really shaped her portrayal in Dragon Ball Super, which is the series that I f...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread
Although 2uper is going to happen sooner or later, maybe Toei and everyone else involved decided it might be best for the franchise to take breaks every few years to avoid franchise fatigue. Super 0.1 is still getting new dubbed episodes internationally and is overall still fresh in fans' minds. Ma...

Re: Why did Super Boo reverted to Kid Boo instead of Grey Skinny Boo after Good Boo was torn out from inside?
If I may wildly speculate... I always thought this was because Kid Boo no longer had any trace of the Dai Kaioshin in his body when good Boo was taken out of him. We know that absorbing the Dai Kaioshin created a profound change in Boo (in both demeanour and strength-- Kid Boo's clearly stronger tha...

Re: What would have been a really good arc for Gohan in the Boo saga?
Haha, if you don't mind a more comical (and detailed) suggestion, I'd like to throw an idea into the fray... So let's imagine a world where Goku was not brought back to life by the Elder Kaioshin and Bee and Mr. Satan were never shot. Mr. Satan has managed to convince Boo not to harm anyone, but he ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" CONTINUATION - (Non) Announcement & Discussion Thread
I get what you're saying, but considering how many sources independently told Ajay and Geekdom that Super was returning (15 for Ajay and 13+ for Geekdom, though I don't know if they share any sources) ... that'd sure be a lot of people either flat-out getting it wrong or deliberately misleading them...

Re: "Call Me Kakarot" Scene Explained! | Dragon Ball Super: Broly
I only saw it as a clever nod to the fact that it's all the original Broly ever said without much else to read into. I saw it as both, actually. It's definitely a nod to the original Broly screaming Goku's name, but I also see it as Goku acknowledging his Saiyan identity (and not just his heritage)...

Re: DBS Gogeta VS Jiren Fan Animation (Video)
Very cool! (will try not to spoil much so folks can watch for themselves). The animation's smooth and there's tons of clever bits, like the combined Gogeta moves, the explanation for why he fights Jiren in the form he's picked, and the way the *ahem* winner decides on a wish. I was impressed by the ...

Re: So how do we explain Fat Buu faring so well against Moro in the latest Manga Chapter?
Those same thoughts were running through my head too, but I'm hopeful the next chapter will provide answers. I do wonder if the passive magic in Buu's body somehow messes with the extra strength Moro acquired through his own magic.

Re: Which dub opening rap is better? GT or One Piece?
Well... the One Piece rap makes me cringe, but the GT one just makes me laugh. It's a catchy sort of bad (well, except the "Aaaaaaaaaaah"), and the melody could be worse. It's strangely charming in its ridiculousness

Re: GT and super similarities
I don't know if he got any threats, but Toriyama did say in Daizenshuu 2 (translation here ) that he considered making Gohan the lead before deciding that leaving Goku as the main character worked better: And then the Cell arc ended. Did you think that everyone felt you would put Gohan into the lead...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
The assertion that Piccolo doesn't get involved in large-scale conflicts anymore isn't entirely true, though. It depends: Piccolo didn't fight Boo, for example, but he did take part in the fight against Freeza's forces in Resurrection F, as well as the Tournament of Power. He just picks his battles ...

Re: GT and super similarities
Right, I agree with SSJmole: Vegeta's desire to surpass, or at least keep up with Goku, was much more of an unhealthy obsession in the Cell and early Buu Saga, whereas in Super (and the Resurrection F film) it really is more of a friendly rivalry (I mean, as friendly as Vegeta gets, anyway). Vegeta ...

Re: Would you guys like a “canon” Shadow Dragon Arc?
Yes, I am not a fan of those rehashes either, and am very concerned that they are the future of dragon ball Even though Dragon Ball has "looked back" a bit with Super and its preceding films, we've gotten a lot of new things too, like Beerus, Whis, the Omni-Kings, Zamasu, the Great Priest...

Re: What happened to Oob?
I don't really harbor any particular favoritism when it comes to Oob. I just think he has potential. At any rate, any continuation would likely have Goku in a co-leading role or as the most prominent supporting character: either way, he'd continue to be a big player. Aside from showing Oob learning ...

Re: What happened to Oob?
Well, despite Dragon Ball and Z being the same saga, I think the change in tone (for a while, anyway) is of pretty significant note. For example, the Freeza Saga (save the Ginyu Force) has an enormous tonal difference from most of Goku's childhood adventures. Although frankly, the tone wouldn't nece...

Re: Would you guys like a “canon” Shadow Dragon Arc?
I agree that making the final villain Shenron-- well, several evil versions of him-- was a very thematic way to close out the series (and ties in well with the Elder Kaiōshin's warnings during the Buu Saga). A canon Shadow Dragon Arc could definitely be fun, sure: maybe this time, the dragons could ...

Re: What happened to Oob?
We need Oob because Gohan chose to be a scholar. And, as the Cell Saga pointed out, fighting-- or more specifically, hurting others-- isn't something Gohan's all that comfortable with. I mention Nam because he's an example of someone with a similar backstory to Oob's whose small arc was something Dr...

Re: What happened to Oob?
Hmm... I'm not so sure. Oob's backstory does resemble that of another character we've seen before in the series, which is Nam's: one was trying to help his village overcome a drought, while the other wanted to end his village's salvation. Of course, Nam never became a lead or was teased as one, but ...

Re: What happened to Oob?
I honestly wouldn't mind a series that takes place during the years Goku trained Oob. It would avoid having the series be another "EVERYTHING IS AT STAKE" storyline that focuses more on the characters. You can even have *gasp* nuance by showing Goku actively struggling with being forced t...
