Re: Gohan intended to take the leading role?

Hmm. Mike said he chose Vegetto because he looked like a badass character, the most badass in the series. So had he not existed, it would have had to have been the second most badass character...

Sigh, yep, you caught me. You're right. It was just easier. And we must all do what is easiest because what is easiest is always right.

Re: Why Cartoon Network didn't get Kai?

Ooh, I'm not familiar with Pere and Pete. Is that as awesome as Pete and Pete? But, yes, that's exactly what it would be. And it would also have healthy doses of You Can't Do That on Television. And the whole network would be hosted by its mascot: Nick Proper, a suave, debonair British secret agent....

Re: Where's it said that nobody keeps their body at death?

I'm sure there's a way our stories can meld, and it wouldn't even require a DC Multiverse explanation. Dog Man was an accountant to the king, which would explain why he was one of the first to find out about the king's insidious plan for anthro-genocide. Dog Man did manage to come up with a financia...

Ooh, that inspires me. I totally think that Nickelodeon's next offshoot channel should be called Nick Proper.

Re: Where's it said that nobody keeps their body at death?

Yeah, in the panel where Kami-sama is being chewed out by Enma for "thinking too loud", there's a confused-looking dog/wolf/fox man with glasses lined up to be judged. Obviously, that dog man did something very awesome while he was alive on Dog Man World. Yeah, I thought about expressing ...

Re: Female Saiyans

I've always hated the name Bulla . Grr... Every time I see it, I think someone's misspelled Bulma. I'm honestly surprised the name filter isn't in effect for this name... But, seriously, everyone knows that Lunch is the only female Super Saiya-jin we see in the series! Due to some genetic anomaly, ...

Re: Daizenshuu 7 Character Dictionary: Fill in the Gaps!

But General Silver was the main villain of a substantial mini-arc. I can't believe they forgot him. Silver's in there; it's White they forgot. And Silver's not a general... he's a colonel. And got his butt kicked in about five panels. Which makes you wonder why the anime spent about six episodes tr...

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

Haven't actually heard it in the Ocean Dubs, but I'm pretty sure that was the sound he was trying to get across, and I think I've heard from others that it was pronounced that way, but don't quote me on that.

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

I think he's saying that the Ocean Dub pronounces it Jee-roh, which is actually how I thought it was as a kid when I'd only read his name in print.

But his name is actually pronounced GEH-roh (with a hard g sound).

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

Don't misunderstand me. I'm from these "darker times" you speak of as well. But I just don't think that's any reason to let one's guard down and not expect the best it can be. In my opinion, just because Dragon Ball was handled somewhat better than Sailor Moon doesn't mean that it's not st...

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

Oh, of course not. There are many other, more important things that make the dub suck. But mispronouncing names certainly doesn't make it good.

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

I might be able to agree with the rest of what you said, but spoiled? Expecting accuracy is being spoiled? Accuracy should be a baseline expectation. Plus, being spoiled with the DBZ dub is an oxymoron in itself.

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

Well you got to remember when it was that DBZ came to American tv. It came out back in the day when nobody really knew what anime was over here. It was already odd enough as it was without names like Tenshinhan or VEE-DEL. They were trying to make it popular over here in the united stated after the...

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

Picture the average fan going up to his average father and presenting Dragon Ball to him. Most likely, nine times out of ten, he's going to interpret the characters' names as complete Japanese gobbledygook no matter which pronounciation you bring to the table. Whether it's T ien or Tenshinhan, K ori...

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

Not really. It's just a matter of being used to it. I might concede that Videl sounds a bit funny, but Go-KUH rolls of the tongue quite easily.

Screen-grabbing Subtitles in VLC?

Hey. I'm in the process of making my video review of the second Dragon Box, and something has me stumped. I would have liked to have included shots of the images with the subtitles in my last video, but, somehow, I was never able to figure it out. Whenever I would take a screen cap, it would just gr...

Re: Why Cartoon Netowork didn't get Kai

Dragon Ball probably doesn't have the kind of mainstream clout anymore to (in networks' minds, at least) warrant being put on a mainstream cable channel. The flop that was DBE probably didn't help matters either. Despite the fact that it was a complete turd (eh, I'm stating heresay as I never actual...

Re: Dragon Ball English VAs

Oh, yeah. I'd pretty much stopped watching the dub by the point she showed up, but it always irked me quite heavily that they pronounced Videl's name like that. And by this point, I'd pretty much blocked it from my mind (just like their mispronounciation of Gero, since, in text, it all looks the sam...
