Re: Kai Episode 47 (7 March 2010)
Ah, I see. That explains it. That was around the time I stopped following Kai. Glad I'm not going crazy at least.

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
Um, hellooooooo, kev! When has FUNimation NOT taken the opportunity to force otherwise silent characters to talk... or add a bunch of dialogue into a silent flashback? I can't remember if Freeza actually spoke in that montage in the original version, but I would bet probably every possession I own t...

Re: Who has the most haxxed abilities
Most haxxed offensive ability : Perhaps Kuririn's Kienzan . It cuts through anything and anyone, regardless of power. It's fast, too. It didn't cut Cell, or SS2 Gohan. Yeah, like Rocketman said, that was anime-only filler. In the manga, the Kienzan has cut through EVERYTHING it's ever made contact ...

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
I thought the cast announcements were only for the first season or so, so theres still hope that it might be re-cast. I wouldn't get your hopes up though. Yeah, but isn't Freeza in the first episode of Kai? It's a montage, so I don't remember if he speaks... Oh, wait, what am I saying?! This is a F...

Re: Kai Episode 47 (7 March 2010)
I forgot to mention this earlier, but does anyone else think that the music playing after Piccolo gets shot sounds quite a bit like the Corleone Waltz from The Godfather films?

Re: "FUNimation thinks its audience is stupid" - Wait, what?
Yeah, I'm just still not getting this defensive mentality with the season sets. Every time someone defends it, I'm still getting that vibe that desirecampbell pointed out: it comes across as though you think a raggedy FUNimation just happened across a tin of 16:9, horribly colored DBZ and just HAD t...

Re: Kai Episode 47 (7 March 2010)
In Dragon Ball Z Freeza shoots a beam at Goku only for Piccolo to take the beam for him. In today's episode it looked as if Freeza was originally targeting Piccolo, which I am pretty sure is the way the manga intended it to be. Just wanted to point that out. What are you talking about? The scene pl...

But it was definitely a screw up when he got in the way of the weasel's last fart. That'll get you every time!

Re: Are Earth's greatest fighters orphans?
Chaotzu is, since Tsurusennin raised him. Which bring the question... what the hell Chaotzu is? That doesn't mean anything. Just because Chaotzu was trained at an early age by Tsurusennin doesn't prove that he is an orphan. As to what Chaotzu is, he is an emperor. They show him as emperor in a spec...

Re: "FUNimation thinks its audience is stupid" - Wait, what?
Sigh. I don't know why I even bothered posting in this thread. Hey, your post was awesome; I just didn't feel pointing it out would contribute too much. I appreciate that. I just figured this thread would be more along the lines of stuff like that. A bit more thoughtful. Instead, it's just the same...

Re: "FUNimation thinks its audience is stupid" - Wait, what?
Again, your question isn't "Were they justified in dumbing down the show?" Your question was, "Did they?"

Re: "FUNimation thinks its audience is stupid" - Wait, what?
Ooh, I'll give this a shot. I certainly don't think it was ever an explicit, "We think our fans are dumb," moreso than just following that kind of mentality. I'll always remember an interview with Cindy Brennan-Fukunaga (is she still around? I never hear about her anymore, just Gen) where,...

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
Yeah, I would. The original theatrical cut is the movie. The special awesome director's extended magical cut is some vanity project based on the real movie. Because, you know, I'm being objective and non-biased in my opinions about recutting films. ^_^

Re: Kai Episode 43 (6 February 2010)
I just hope things like Tenshinhan's kikoho in the preview isn't "corrected" in the home release. Oh, wait, is that already out? They already fixed the "paradice" from the first episode. These fuck ups need to be presented like they originally were.

Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
That'd be like George Lucas marketing the digitally altered versions of the original star wars trilogy as different movies. As much as we know Han shot first, it's still the original Star Wars trilogy. Saying Dragon Ball Kai is not Dragon Ball Z is kinda silly at this point. Geez, I wish he would m...

Re: Redubbed Voices?
Just one episode? Was it 84? Because as I was spot checking the dub on the last DBox, I noticed that there was no pitch-modulation on final form Freeza, and I was curious whether or not that was permanent.

Re: Top 5 Romantic Moments in DB That Never Actually Happened
Now I'll go ahead and admit that I can certainly see it as a plausible (albeit sad and pathetic) arc for him: that he was shy around girls until he began to get attention from Bulma and all his fans from Metro West, he let it go to his head, and became a cheating womanizer. It's certainly plausible....

Oh hi, FUNimation. I fixed your boxart. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d81/Kaboom_Krusader/FanArt/Kaboom_DBZKaiS1P1_v2Thumb.png If some dork who's barely got his Associate's in CGA can come up with this, you'd think, "surely FUNimation's trained, hired professionals can manage something jus...

Re: Son Goku's Super Saiyan Speech
Well, considering that only quite intimate friends in Japan ever refer to each other by their given names, I'm sure more characters in DB would be referring to each other by their surnames... if they had them. Bulma most likely got used to calling him Son-kun, it became a term of endearment, and it ...
