So fucking sick of FUNimation making the proper aspect ratio a "rare" and "limited" thing. So fucking annoying.
I seem to have missed where it says that..!

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

They're finally starting to appear on Amazon and whoa this is pretty gnarly!

Like $60 for the first set? On Amazon?!

No thanks!! The only way I'll pay $60 for this is if I'm getting it at my local anime shop. Amazon doesn't need my $60 as much as my local shop does.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Just so people who are interested know exactly what they most likely will be getting, I made a small clip using VLC's record mode (not sure how else to do it) but it doesn't look like it took much (if any) hit at the quality this is from right after Goke went Super Saiyan https://mega.nz/file/QZQnl...

Re: Does anyone else feel that much of the DB fandom enforces low standards?

Hm, I don't know about that. I think all changes are possible, what will get you is how these changes come/happen. Yes, taking Goku abruptly away right now, out of a sudden, would be a terrible move. No matter what, it won't be right. However, taking Goku away little by little, slowly giving others...

Re: Does anyone else feel that much of the DB fandom enforces low standards?

Moving away from Goku will not be good for Dragon Ball. He's the emotional spine of the story. Which is pretty much my initial point: DB is dead without Goku. But including Goku basically means that the series can never evolve. It just becomes more of the same. If he has to go away then it's not Dr...

Re: Dragon Ball Z 4:3 Steelbooks

Maybe they'll be around for years, maybe they'll pull a Dragon Box. Maybe they'll be replaced with something better, maybe they'll pull a Level Set. I'm just happy it's in 4:3 and of acceptable video quality (minus some earlier episodes, apparently). As someone with the Orange Bricks, I'll take the...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

It’s still really weird that Funimation never recorded an English version of Head Cha La for consistency with Dragon Ball and GT having English versions of the Japanese openings Or following that it’s weird Mark Menza’s Generic stock music opening is used for the dub w/Japanese music as it’s kind o...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Did the 30th anniversary release use that generic buttrock opening (that holds like zero nostalgic value for anybody) for the dub's OP or did they use Cha-La Head Cha-La? That same old rock (for the english w/ japanese score). What ever happened to this one? https://youtu.be/Wu2anfKAm6M Stuff like ...

Re: Does anyone else feel that much of the DB fandom enforces low standards?

"Stop hating what i like", "Stop liking what i hate", these two sentences sums up the DB fandom right now. It's caused me a lot of frustration because I kinda bought into taking a side in that rather than just being like, "You don't like [ thing ]? That's cool. Hopefully yo...

Re: Does anyone else feel that much of the DB fandom enforces low standards?

The only reason I'm against going into Trunks and Bardock Specials territory on the regular is that those were uncharacteristically "dark" for Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Ball isn't a "dark" series overall. Going into that territory on the regular just reminds me of Funimation's ...

Re: Where can Saiyan transformations go from here?

If the choice is following the next gen or keeping the story that's spinning its wheels going, I'll pick the latter every time because at least it's more honest. It doesn't give the appearance of moving forward. I don't know how a next gen show (with heavy presence from the old gen) is anything but...

Re: Does anyone else feel that much of the DB fandom enforces low standards?

For older folks that have stuck around, when you've already had that discussion seventy times, sometimes you just don't want to have it anymore. This is where I've been at for quite awhile. The part that eluded me, which caused a lot of unnecessary frustration on my part, was the idea that the folk...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

They are, but no English release except the Dragon Boxes are worth it. So I'd suggest people don't buy it at all. A new release in HD that's better will happen. It's inevitable. After all this time I don't have any faith in the dream release we're looking for to ever happen. If it does then I'll be...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

"This release"? You mean the anniversary set Re packaged? That would be good, actually. I'd rather Funimation get a track record of finishing their DBZ releases because right now it's kind of sketchy. I don't care whether or not you or I like the release. I just want them to see it throug...

Looks like this is getting a steelbook release. "New anime announced by Funimation! Dragon Ball Z Steelbooks (in 4:3 aspect ratio)" Source: RightStuff https://i.postimg.cc/vcVNNdNh/704400103506-anime-dragon-ball-z-season-1-steelbook-blu-ray-primary.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/xXV4r4r2/704400...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Once they hit Amazon and I see what the prices are there I'll decide whether I buy online or buy local [edit]because I'd like to at least own DBZ in 4:3 on Blu ray even if it's not a new Toei remaster.[/edit]
