Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued

They were pretty clear these were a limited edition run well before they stopped printing them, just not from day one.

Re: Takeshi Aono Passes Away

It's a really sad thing indeed, but we're going to see a lot more of these people go as time goes on. If you think about it, DBZ ended in Japan in 1996 - that was sixteen years ago - and many of them had been working on the show for many years before that - much as many Trek fans had to accept they ...

Re: Welcome to Integrated-Kanzenshuu!

Yeah, a lot of the same topics do frequently come up. I've gotten to to use my timelines image in more than one thread dedicated to them. ;) In my case, I've been hanging around this community since Chris Psaros's DBZ Uncensored linked to Vegetto EX's ultimate links page and I sort of never went awa...

Re: Toonami may potentially return.

I would hope that any return of the block would not exclusively be old shows, but there is a place for the best of the old shows to be there - both for nostalgia for older fans, and as interest drivers for new ones. Most of us here, at least on the American fandom side, were getting into Dragonball ...

Re: Toonami may potentially return.

Watching that aparil fools run filled me with such warmth and happiness. It's no surprise the decline in the american anime industry happened right around the same time Toonami was taken off the air. Without a major force to show anime to new viewers, the genre would (and did) return to its niche ro...

Re: Welcome to Integrated-Kanzenshuu!

Yeah, this merger has me more excited for this community than I have been in ages. Truth be told, while I'm still as much a Dragon Ball nut as I always have been, in recent years I'd gotten to the point where it felt like I had run out of things to talk about here - anything I wanted to say was alre...

Re: DBO - the whole of HUMANITY have saiyan blood?

It isn't necessarily Goten, Trunks, Gohan, Pan, or Bra that are doing all of the breeding.

For all we know its one of their decendant generations who had a baby boom.

Re: Should the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai Arc have been part of

While Goku has "grown up" in the 23rd Tenka-ichi Budokai arc, the tone and feel of the arc fits MUCH better with the "Mystical Adventure" feel of Dragon Ball, and much less with the sciifi adventure feel of DBZ. I am also of the mind a split never really should have happened, but...

Re: FUNimation DBZ TV Blu-ray Official On-Going Thread

I think the Anime Corner Store email newsletter said best whats going on here: All that gobbledy-gock is just industry speak for "the first two BD's releases have been terrible sellers and we cannot continue to put resources into the restoration and release on BD at these sell through levels.&q...

I do occasionally post here but like li'l lemmy, given my long time here, you'd think I'd have more posts. I usually don't have anything special to add to threads so I don't post very often, but I am constantly reading these boards.

Re: Saiyajin? Saiyan?

Because I grew up with a dub reffering to it as Say-yan its very difficult for me to say sigh-yan. I try and sometimes I do it correctly, but the autopilot in me just goes straight to it. However I seem to have no problems saying Saiyajin correctly, because I didn't spend many years saying it incorr...

Re: Ancient question about Schemmel for oldschool PN veteran

Having been around in the DBZ community since forever and a day ago, I remember the DBZOA, and I was never a huge fan of the place, in my opinion it was a bit of a nuthouse. That being said, I have to say that while my opinions were at odds with Great Saiyaman, he was pretty much the only one in tha...

So not reality bro... This is why the world is such a shitty place for so many people...they never try to change anything and just accept things the way they are without even considering the nonsense of it all! lol but w/e... I honestly don't mind paying for Box 2 at it's inflated price. It's well ...

Hey! They still sell every(!) DBox for normal price: http://www.animecornerstore.com/drazonballz.html Hope it helps somebody! :) I shop at RAC's all the time! Great store, good customer service, and Bob is a super-great guy! But I wouldn't say "every(!) DBox for normal price" as his price...

Re: How Many Times Have You Bought DBZ?

I don't have all of these anymore (but I do still have most of this) but I have bought: 1) The Pioneer/FUNi VHS set for the first two "seasons" in the ocean dub 2) The FUNimation VHS set for the Ginyu set, and through "super saiyan goku" on VHS (at this point I was waiting for DV...

Re: Dragonball DragonBox?

Eh, I have all the saga sets, so I got the first blue box so that I could have an unedited form of the first 13 episodes. It really isn't that bad - certainly not as nice as the dragonbox footage but it isn't super flawed like the orange brick sets were. Heck, honestly, the only reason I kept buying...

Re: Assuming that Goku died in episode 1 of DB....

if we assume Goku doesn't exist in the original adventure that does not stop Yamcha, Puar and Oolong from joining in with Bulma at some point - it would have been a much rougher battle but Pilaf may well yet still have been defeated (after all it was oolong who thwarted Pilaf's wish - not Goku). But...

Re: Why You Didn't Get the Singles When Available?

I remember well those times - and yes most anime was more expensive then a new videogame at the time. The afformentioned Lodoss War set was considered "cheap". I distinctly remember buying the two hundred dollar Trigun set because it was cheaper then 30 bucks a pop for eight volumes. It's ...
