I got a reply from PlayAsia's customer support regarding the Asian release, and they told me despite the description Budokai 1 uses the Engish voice over, so if you want Japanese voices in Budokai 1 the PAL release is your only option.

I think FUNimation should have held off until Toei was ready to do their own HD release. Why crowd the market with an inferior product? An inferior product compared to what? So for the North American release one side has the European boxart for Budokai and Budokai 3, and the other side had the Japanese boxart for Budokai and Budokai 3. Weird.

I'm glad they skipped the American boxart though, Budokai 1 had a nice cover but Budokai 3's was completely terrible.

Wow, I never thought they'd actually do something with the franchise based on the popularity overseas. Glad Kai's success in other parts of the world is leading to it being continued, and I'm really interested to see how the Boo arc turns out.
