Re: New Dragon Ball Fan

Finished Volume 6, wasn't too keen on Muscle Tower but Murasaki made me laugh as did the trip to the city. Next Volume looks to be intresting will read it soon. And my review of the second arc will be up tonight. If you're ever going to cherry pick episodes from the anime, they work a second appear...

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub

I know they showed the first few episodes at a convention, but now I'm wondering if some changes might've been made. Do we hear a Son Goku or two after all? Are they going to do something really irritating like keep Japanese honorifics in? Damn it, I should not care about Kai this much. As far as I'...

No, no. You clearly missed it. Oolong was in episode 3, but he was transformed into a palm-tree on Kame Sennin's island.

Re: Dragonball Kai Dub

Maybe the entire English voice cast will speak Japanese on the DVD, with English subtitles that are extremely accurate but actually just romanizations of the English cast's Japanese dialogue.

That way it will be TOTALLY HARDCORE for the TRUE FANS.

Except Toriyama doesn't know a lick of English.

This is a case where the entire world seems to have set its standard to Toriyama's Engrish.

Re: Why is the "FRIEZA" spelling wrong?

Actually, they did change it. To V egito. Personally, I would've gone for Vegeto. Oh. I was operating under the assumption that they'd kept it as "Vegetto." I'm going to go ahead and call "Vegito" a decent choice. Again, a little bit baffling and unnecessary like "Fr i eza,...

Goku states that Super Baby's ki was the strongest he'd ever felt earlier on in the series, as well.
Well, that's good enough for me.

Re: Why is the "FRIEZA" spelling wrong?

Why would that be any different? Because when you read "Vegeto" under English phonetics, it's pronounced the same way as ベジット, or at least reasonably close. When you read "Vegetto" in English, it would be something more like ベジェット. When two vowels are separated by a single conso...

Re: Why is the "FRIEZA" spelling wrong?

Well, Vegetto doesn't have the long "ii" sound anyway, does it? I haven't seen that part of the anime in Japanese, so I don't know if it's pronounced all that differently, but it's spelled ベジット/Bejitto, rather than ベジーット/Bejiitto. It's not elongated, but it's still the equivalent of a lon...

Re: Why is the "FRIEZA" spelling wrong?

Yes. From fans (non-ironically), and from non-fans. We're not just making this shit up. The thing is, "Fr i eza" can very concievably be pronounced "Freeza" within English phonetics. Whereas "Vegetto" has no other standard pronunciation than "Vegehtto." It's ...

Re: Question about Fusion (dance type)

Nothing implies it's that much stronger. Vegetto owned Buu without really exerting any effort at all, so what makes you think the "Potara boost" is what puts him so far above Gogeta? To the point of Gogeta being weaker than Buuhan? It's a tough call, and there's really nothing to go on ot...

Re: Favourite Art Style in the series

It wasn't just the fact that the main animation progressed past the round style. The Last House style just got progressively sloppier, too. A couple of episodes in the Cell saga are absolutely hideous (episode 156 and 169). That's what I thought. They didn't pick up on the new style, the drawings b...

Re: Favourite Art Style in the series

So, a quick trip to Kanzenban's episode guide reminded me that "Triangle Crap" features key animation by Studio Live. So everyone can go hate on that now. My personal least favorite is Last House. I was actually surprised to see that their animation does an adequate job and blends well in ...

Also, if you get in a beam struggle, unless you're an experienced Chun Li player, you're going to lose. You may find it unsatisfying to "cheat" with a Turbo button, but that's about the only other way to win. I hear this all the time, but I win no problem at least four out of five times, ...

Re: Garlic Jr. Saga - Really the worst?

I just realized something about the Garlic Jr. arc today as I was driving home from work. Nearly every time skip in Dragon Ball has some filler episodes in the anime. And also, as far as I can recall, every single one features the characters at the exact same age as the end of the preceding arc. Th...
