Re: Criticism
1. I know this forum used to auto filter dub terms to Japanese terms but that was clearly done away a long time ago and people on this forum have used Frieza, King Kai, Hercule, Sprit Bomb, Tien, Krillin, Special Beam Cannon blabbity blah blah all the time so complaining about that being moderated ...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Contrivances are usually always a necessary evil for narrative fiction. Sometimes they do get too much but often criticism of it are just nitpicky and pedantic. Yeah at the end of the day something's gonna have to conveniently fall into place...the same shit happens in real life when you take a ste...

Re: Things from the Anime that you prefer over the canon of the manga
-Toei's conception of the Afterlife is a lot more fun than Toriyama's -Pilaf's shenanigans at the beginning of the Red Ribbon arc. -A lot of the Piccolo arc. Besides the aforementioned Super God Water, there's also Tien and how the Rice Cooker isn't broken as an afterthought - instead he actually ge...

Re: Was it ever explained away why no one in trunks time in the afterlife help out at all?
Yeah, people are forgetting that it was Kami that pulled strings for Goku to keep his body the first time he was killed, and did the same after everyone got killed by Nappa. It's possible that after all those guys got killed again, Enma was like "A'ight nigga this time it's for keeps, stop pla...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
The Buu Kai that's on Home Video actually does retain a fair bit of filler, especially for the Saiyaman stuff since that's damn near impossible to edit around due to how Toei integrated it into the canon. Well, they kept in what Saiyaman filler wasn't able to be cut, which involved Gohan saving the...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Z's filler gets really tedious, though. When it's extra scenes not from the manga put in for the purposes of padding out the story, it can get really boring. When it's episodes where the production crew didn't have to worry about interrupting an ongoing storyline, those are fine. This is why I pref...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Toei was much better at handling Filler during the first series and even in the Saiyan saga, too. But I think the nature of the Namek/Frieza saga made it hard to organically integrate worthwhile stuff.

Re: Frieza, Cell and Buu Saga: which one has the LESS iconic moments?
I wanted to say the one least present in public consciousness was Boo, since it only really has the final Genki Dama and the Fusion dance, but Cell really on has the father-son Kamehameha climax, so… Weirdly, Cell, I guess. Although Cell himself might curry a little more cultural presence/iconograp...

Re: Was it ever explained away why no one in trunks time in the afterlife help out at all?
The idea that King Kai wouldn't bother lifting a finger is also bothersome. He clearly cared about the fate of the Earth during the Saiyan invasion, and went out of his way to help the gang reach Namek, and also played a key role in saving everyone before Namek exploded. I just find it hard to beli...

Re: A new Budokai Tenkaichi has been announced
Considering it also pushed 8 mill, Would you say Xenoverse 2 share these qualities? Probable not. That doesn't really refute my point, though. I'm not saying this new game won't sell. What I'm contesting is the notion that FighterZ didn't meet this gold standard for general audiences compared to th...

Re: Anime Still Sells a Lot Of Physical Home Media
Speaking of physical home media, were tapes of the World Martial Arts Tournament ever distributed? Seems like there would be easy evidence to dispute Mr. Satan's claims about the Cell Games being full of parlor tricks.

Re: Was it ever explained away why no one in trunks time in the afterlife help out at all?
While it makes sense that Goku didn't keep his body, surely Kami would've just done what he did back when everyone was killed by the Saiyans and bring back the bodies of Yamcha, Krillin, et al. Probably couldn't have pulled strings to keep Vegeta around since the Androids weren't a universal threat ...

Re: What are some overlooked quotes or moments you enjoy?
Goku still needing a confirmation from Videl that she's a girl. Even all those years later, he's still kind of an idiot. It's not one scene, but Kid Goku being completely unaware of literally everything, getting into a cab without money, just wanting to go to Bulma's house. Not caring about losing h...

. 2) The location where Frieza is revived is described as being the same where Trunks cut him into pieces years ago. It hasn't been elaborated on why, but maybe because you come back alive at the place you die, I guess? The Namekian Dragon Balls were like that, but I don't recall that happening wit...

Re: Are you sick of Goku?
I'm not sick of Goku, and to be honest, I don't think anyone else is either. What I am (and I think many other people are) sick of is the production staff behind Dragon Ball having no particular idea what they want from the series. Goku is not so much a consistent character as the thing they cling ...

Re: Deep Thoughts: Trunks TV Special, Movies 5, 6, 7
The dub version of Movie 7 makes the movie far more entertaining than it would be on its own, and not even in a "So bad it's good" way.
