Not sure if your being condescending or serious but Super isn't fanwork it's official. I guess you can make the argument that it's fan service but super is building up on Vegetas character and his relationship with his family while keeping it entertaining. What i should of said is that these things (plot, characters, and visual) are intertwined together. One shouldn't be put above the other. That's how you get memorable shows/movies.
Also I would have to disagree with you on that. I think theirs plenty of great shows out there.

People never bring this up but blu rays have superior audio quality too. So if you a home theater system blu rays are the way to go.
