Re: You get a wish from Shenron
It just occurred to me that every once in a while, there seems to be a topic on this board that inspires some kind of philosophical, ethical or political debate that goes beyond anything Dragon Ball would ever consider covering. That happens quite often, and there's a reason for it: we're (mostly) ...

Re: You get a wish from Shenron
Also keep in mind, if you wish for any kind of supernatural powers, then, since this takes place in the real world, you're going to be the only person with those powers. So that could easily lead to you being corrupted by that power if no one can stop you. That thought occurred to me too, but my th...

Re: You get a wish from Shenron
World peace and fixing climate change are the best wishes you can ask for. I would save any fun stuff like money for later. I don't have faith that Shenron would be able to resolve these issues with their level of complexity, especially for an eternity. I forgot the whole "can't wish for somet...

Re: You get a wish from Shenron
To become a God. That way I've got a crap-ton of fairly undefined powers that I could use to do some real good, and I wouldn't be limited to the outcome of just one wish. I'd use my powers to do big things like cure diseases, heal the planet, and invent space colonies, along with a few admittedly pe...

Re: Would a “true” faithful dub ever be possible?
I think it has to be mentioned that he also wanted to make an uncut dub for the series of the tier of the Pioneer DVDs. Somebody did say that, but it was Gen Fukunaga, FUNimation CEO. https://dbzu.3gkai.com/opinions/bwatson.html Ah, OK. Fukunaga said it too, but I guess so did Barry Watson. In any ...

I think it has to be mentioned that he also wanted to make an uncut dub for the series of the tier of the Pioneer DVDs. Somebody did say that, but it was Gen Fukunaga, FUNimation CEO. Now that would've surely been awesome, because their dubs of DBZ movies 1-3 (Which are by far the best way to watch...

Re: Would a “true” faithful dub ever be possible?
Yes, it was Watson's creative decisions among others that led to the DBZ dub (and DB/GT to a lesser extent) coming out the way they did. It seems after he and some of the other production people had left the company in 2004/2005 that the direction of their dubs improved gradually. That said, I'll g...

Re: Would a “true” faithful dub ever be possible?
I think it's faithful enough, certainly much moreso than the hot dumpster fire garbage that the old DBZ dub was because by that point a decade later there had been a changeover at FUNi from a management standpoint in terms of dub production.... ...Funny how at the time there Watson said the DBZ dub...

Re: Would a “true” faithful dub ever be possible?
Isn't DBZ Kai a true dub? Depends on who you ask. There's always a bit of subjectivity on whether or not a dub is faithful enough. There are those out there who believe a dub isn't faithful unless the script is completely identical to the subtitles (which never happens because it isn't practical), ...

Re: Animation: Z VS Kai
As others have said, the animation is the same save a few re-drawings that were slipped in (which didn't look particularly looked). That said, Kai had one great thing going for it in the visuals department: purely in terms of colors, I think Kai is the best that show has ever looked. They did a grea...

Re: Top 10 worst Dragon Ball dubs
1. Speedy ... Plus there seems to be some unlicensed shenanigans going on based on some movies having an incomplete M&E track. Albeit a surprisingly high-quality M&E track. Like, legitimately very surprising, it's bewildering to me how they of all people got a hold of such a high-quality M&...

Masako Nozawa and Brigitte Lecordier (Kid Goku/Gohan/Goten's French Voice Actress) Dub A Scene Together
I feel kinda lame posting this because neither my Japanese nor my French is good enough to completely comprehend what's being said...but I get the gist of it, and it's pretty cool! At a convention panel called "We Are Goku!" with with Sean Schemmel and Masako Nozawa, one of the questions N...

Re: Top 10 worst Dragon Ball dubs
That's the point of lector. Most movies and shows in polish TV has that (cinemas have subs instead). We barely dub any live action movies or shows unless target audience are children. Problem with polish version of DB was that french dub itself was awful and had bad translation and then we once aga...

Re: Top 10 worst Dragon Ball dubs
While it is true that the vast majority of DBZ received a narrated "voice-over lector" in Poland, the last two movies actually did get what would more traditionally be thought of as a dub, with multiple voice actors who actually emoted, a script that synced to the lip movements, and an aud...

A racist fusing with what he's racist against. Yup, that'd be pretty messed up. Possibly quite amusing. Definitely a fearsome fighter.Polyphase Avatron wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 11:21 pm Goku and Freeza, just to see what kind of messed up personality would result.

Re: Is there a list of countries that has their own instrument remix of the DBZ Opening theme 1?
There are a few that come to mind, though this isn't necessarily a complete list: - The German dub . Posted first because it is, in my opinion, the best dubbed version of Chala Head Chala. Kickass vocals and the instrumental mix has more of a rock/metal feel to it. - The Serbian Dub . Cheating a bit...

Re: Would a “true” faithful dub ever be possible?
I'm deeply disturbed by this but it's probably a natural evolution of the way giant corporations treat their IPs as just products to be churned out, they don't care who or, indeed, what makes them. Could be a manatee pushing labelled balls around in a tank for all they care... Maybe if we reach a p...

Re: Would a “true” faithful dub ever be possible?
Not until we have AI that can perfectly replicate voices and translate things while retaining meaning. That technology is coming . I wish I was joking, but I'm not. There are several companies who are hard at work at creating "deepfake audio" technology, with one company focusing on creat...
