Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Viz English Official Discussion Thread

Viz has officially released chapter 22, they already catch up Thanks for the heads up! I'll add it to the first post. Now I want Viz to add this to their Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine so I finally have a bigger incentive to sign up besides BNHA I'm also hoping for this. I'm fine if they keep up the f...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

The way Mike McFarland and Joel McDonald described the simuldub/broadcast dub production process on the One Piece Podcast (which was a couple of years ago, so maybe things have changed, but I kinda doubt it) is that the production schedule of these dubs is so tight that they're forced to focus on pu...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

Realistically I can only see them going through with a simuldub if Toei has informed them in advance that the Universe Survival arc is actually going to be the final arc of Super (like how they simuldubbed Fairy Tail Zero because that was going to be the end of the Fairy Tail anime for the time bein...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

Wait AOT S2 got it's dub confirmed? Is there a press release about this? I'm one of the minority that prefers the dub for AOT so I hope it does get a Broadcast dub. https://www.funimation.com/blog/2017/03/31/attack-titan-season-2-premiere-saturday-april-1-funimationnow-hulu-crunchyroll/ FLOWER MOUN...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

On one hand I could see them actually doing this.

On the other hand, it's still April 1st for at least a couple more hours (depending on timezone), so it could easily just be a dumb "ha ha gotcha!" thing (though DeMarco doesn't really strike me as the type to do that).

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread

As expected they didnt care much for Bras birth, and SNk is returning this weekend, OPM Season 2 is already in production. BNHA can be a threat if they plan to animate up to AlMight vs AFO fight. Considering the first season of Hero Academia only covered 21 chapters over 13 episodes, and that the s...

Re: Digital vs Tangible

Those kind of products might still work fine after 20 or 25 years, but they can also, just as easily, not work, either due to their natural degradation or because the format is obsolete and you can no longer get proper support (like me not even knowing how to get a VHS player anymore even though I ...

Kai got higher ratings than Super. Huh. Pretty decent debut for Tokyo Ghoul.

Viz will be promoting Dragon Ball Super on Free Comic Book Day in May.

http://www.freecomicbookday.com/Catalog/JAN170047 Also Boruto, but that's a bit less relevant to this website. The preview shows the first few pages of chapter 2 of the Super manga (with Viz's English logo for the series and no chapter number/title), so it's not clear how much DBS content this Free ...

Re: Digital vs Tangible

. With a disc, you have it forever. I could have said that about my VHSs and I would be wrong. Even if nothing abnormal happens, after 15 or 20 years, it would be perfectly normal for the format to be absolete or for the product to start failing (they do have lifespans). In that regard, I would exp...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread

Just comparing Super's box set releases to individual One Piece discs that came out around the same time doesn't show the whole picture of sales. The individual One Piece DVDs do alright by long-running anime standards, but the real money makers are the One Piece Log Collection box sets that run a f...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread

Talking specifically about Japan, Dragon Ball absolutely does not sell more DVDs than One Piece does. Internationally, probably, but not in Japan. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-12-28/top-selling-animation-in-japan-on-blu-ray-disc-dvd-by-series-2016/.110415 [spoiler] 1 562,503 Mr. Osomats...

Re: FUNimation provides closure for the Ultimate Uncut Special Edition cancellation

I wouldn't exactly be surprised if the Ultimate Uncut DVDs did do disappointing numbers for Funimation, if only because they were single DVDs w/ three episodes each coming out right around the time people were starting to get really sick of those (coincidentally, they were cancelled shortly before V...

and possibly tv numbers from FUNimation. Nielsen TV ratings for the late-night Toonami run of Funimation's dubs of Kai and Super are cataloged in these threads . Given the airing times I'm not sure how useful that information might actually be for any prospective Norwegian distributors, but there i...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

The thing about using Trafalgar Law clips as examples of what Matthew Mercer sounds like is that the One Piece dub is still far from up to date. Law's earliest appearances in the series largely consist of him being kind of detached and smug. They're like two or three "seasons" worth of dub...

Re: Toonami 2014 DBZKai Ratings!

Wow. I'm sure DST is to blame on some level, but those are some really bad numbers for Gundam and Hunter x Hunter (though JJBA didn't leave them much of an audience to work with).

Re: Toonami 2014 DBZKai Ratings!

The pacing of the One Piece anime gets dramatically worse as it goes on (starting, incidentally, around Thriller Bark - the arc Toonami finished up before deciding to drop it). It's been especially bad lately as they recently stretched out an arc that was 21 chapters in the manga into 26 episodes fo...
