Which causes the worst in-fighting among Dragon Ball fans?
Off the top of my head, there's: FUNi Z dub fans vs Sub fans (Still going strong even today. A quick stroll through Youtube comments will confirm this) FUNi Z dub fans vs Ocean fans (Seems to have died down ever since Drummond did Copy Vegeta and the Oceans VAs began appearing at Kamehacons with the...

Re: What Could've Been....But Wasn't!!!
I actually think Funimation would have tried to push Saban (and by extension, Ron Wasserman) out of the equation regardless. From what I've pieced together over the years through interviews it seems that Barry Watson and Gen Fukunaga were frustrated with the lack of control they had over the Wasser...

Re: Is anyone annoyed that the revival happened?
I'm sure there wouldn't be as much activity but no way things would be dead if we didn't have new material. How many old shows and movies keep finding new audiences? Plenty. Western fandom for stuff like Sailor Moon is mainly based around those who grew up with it in the 90s/early 00s. You could ar...

Re: The earliest dub other than the first one you heard.
In my country we had the exact same experience as Americans, hearing the Ocean voices in the Saban dub for the first 53 episodes of Z, followed by the Funimation voices for everything that came afterwards. The Big Green dub in 2011 was the first new one I ever heard on the internet. This clip specif...

Re: What Could've Been....But Wasn't!!!
I was recently watching some of those "deleted TV scenes" clips included in the extras on the old Pioneer Dead Zone DVD and it was quite an interesting and eye opening curiosity for sure, seeing as aside from being the only subbed bits of the original Japanese version related to the serie...

Re: Can we talk about the Funimation Movie Soundtracks?
I mean not in any way of the background music, that was done beautifully. I'm talking about the featured bands that where thrown in like Disturbed, Pantera, Nonpoint, Deftones, etc. But, my main concern in this thread is Movie 8: Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan, and Movie 10: Broly, Second Coming....

Re: Is anyone annoyed that the revival happened?
Is there anyone who personally believes that things would’ve been better off if BoG never happened? At the very least, I assume these forums would’ve been dead by now if it weren’t for the revival. I choose not to watch the new stuff so it literally has zero impact on me and my enjoyment of what ca...

Re: Members: How old are you?
It's surreal to think that people born in 2008 are now old enough to join the forums. They were still in diapers when we were talking about DB on this forum. They're possibly the youngest people who are able to remember the pre-BoG era. I was only 4 years old when I got into Dragon Ball because of ...

Re: Things you've noticed that are different from region to region
True, i mean Pioneer's edited dub only single discs/box sets went out of print back in mid 2003 once their sublicense for Z expired (leading up to FUNi's own in house redub which was announced shortly before or around the same time) and the Rock the Dragon set is the most recent release but was hel...

Re: Things you've noticed that are different from region to region
I can’t imagine anyone actually paying $100 to own 3 episodes of a specific dub they can probably find for free online. Some are selling Rock the Dragon Edition (9 discs) for $360 dollars on ebay, and there's about 20 people bidding for it. Likewise, the Saiyan Conflict box, which only has 26 episo...

Things you've noticed that are different from region to region
I live in a region 4 country, and people here are selling singles of the old Saban era dub for very cheap. I've recently purchased two Saban Saiyan Saga singles, one only cost $10 and the other $20. Meanwhile, I see people in America who are selling the Saban singles for close to $100 dollars. And t...

Re: What haven't you seen?
Z Movie 13, the GT special, the BoG movies onward, certain chunks of the Dragon Ball anime and all of Super minus the first few episodes. When Dragon Ball GT was first coming out in 2003-2004 I never saw anything past the episode with the first Shadow Dragon, only seeing the entire arc several years...

Did anyone else get into film music and soundtracks primarily because of Dragon Ball?
I'm currently doing a course on film music, and I probably wouldn't be there if not for DB.

Re: Do you prefer to watch the censored or uncensored version of Dragon Ball?
The censored versions are a product of the late 90s, whereas the real Dragon Ball is a product of the late 80s. I don't prefer one or the other since it's like comparing apples to oranges.

How you'd break up the different eras of Dragon Ball in the west
For me, it would go like this:
1995-1998 = Syndication era
1999-2003 = Cartoon Network era
2004 = Dragon Ball GT era
2005-2006 = Ultimate Uncut era
2007-2009 = Orange Brick era
2010-2012 = Kai era
2013-present = New material era

Re: Rankings and thoughts of the post-Kikuchi composers?
4. Wasserman/Levi - Mostly generic Power Rangers esque noise to me. It's kind of just there in the background, without any emotional purpose. I must say I was very surprised when I read somewhere Ron Wasserman was quite pleased with his work on Dragon Ball Z. It’s probably the least awful of the re...

Re: Rescoring?
So, I've noticed there's a lot of rescore projects out there, and then some randos just rescorin some stuff. My question is, and I hope this is the right place, there wasn't exactly any specific "Help" Thread, so I figured music would be right, but my question is, how does one rescore? A ...
