Re: Was the Level remastering REALLY too expensive, though? Almost certainly not.
Here's hoping Toei does the remastering for the 40th anniversary. [image] This can't be Toei's work. His middle fingers are visible in the image. As we all know, middle fingers are offensive to Japanese children as well as serious adult collectors, and must be removed in all contexts!! Dont worry, ...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Funimation outright said they put X amount of work into the Season BDs, the same amount as they put into the Levels, they specifically talked about how sometimes it can take a full week for one engineer to do. This, along with the fact the tape marks are gone on the 30th sets leads to one reasonabl...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Look, I don't like DNR any more then the next guy, but at the end of the day, if done properly, it can look quite good. Funimation just seems to have a problem ever since the season blu-rays came out with applying weird filters to their remasters, on top of DNR'ing it, and making everything look wat...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
I know that this is 35mm film and cropped to 1.85:1, but imagine if we were able to get the series even closed to being remastered this beautifully .

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
For the opening at least, I like the color grading more on the 30th anniversary set.
Also, the level set is slightly more zoomed out.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
https://youtu.be/6aMJcXgZfew Don't get me wrong, Enigmo and I don't always see eye to eye, but I gotta give it up to him for keeping things real on this one. And the little jab at Geekdom near the end was well warranted. Glad to see Enigmo clarified in the comments that only episode 1 is zoomed in,...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
Can anyone who has this set posts some screencaps from episode 34? I happen to have the level version of that episode on my pc and would like to compare them.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release
How much picture you gain/lose with each of Funimation's blu-ray releases (not counting Kai). https://i.imgur.com/rG9OvSA.png Good lord, they cut off way too much of the image all around. It's the most cramped I've ever seen a 4:3 presentation and looks simply atrocious. I'm almost positive this is...

Re: All in all, are you happy the revival happened?
Yes. The Revival brought about Kai, which introduced me into the series, and is my favorite way to watch the "Z" portion of DB. It also brought about Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F', two movies that I consider enjoyable for the most part. Then Super came around. And while I'm not a big...

Re: What specifically was wrong with Vic Mignogna’s take on Broly?
Oh, I don't know. I've never seen this dubbed with the replacement music before. I'm gonna need a few minutes here. On, like, multiple levels. Just. Fucking. What. Wow. A cartoon with music and voice acting you don't like elicits this level of shock? Back to the main point, I actually like his &quo...

Re: (Project idea) Dragon Ball Z Kai Upscale
Dragon Ball Z Kai looks beautiful upscaled, it's a very good approximation of what the cels look like. Theoretically, you could upscale the entire series, but the amount of time and manpower needed is simply too much for one person. So here's the idea, a team of 5~6 would work on upscaling the enti...

Re: Possible details on Selecta Vision's Dragon Ball (1986-1989) bluray release
Probably best idea would be to release both 4:3 and 16:9 version and you can change with one you want in options, kinda like what they did with original Star Trek (unaltered or with enhanced special effects) or some Laurel & Hardy movies (original B&W or in color). But if there is only one ...
