Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator
My understanding was that Shueisha didn't want the Super anime to return as they feared it would hurt their manga sales, some within the company were even sick of Akio Iyoku being too controlling of the Dragon Ball franchise as reported here and he declined offers to be moved to a non-Dragon Ball r...

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
This is just speculation, but in light of recent events, I wonder if Daima is the way it is because Toriyama went into it knowing it would likely be the final Dragon Ball thing he worked on. Daima heavily drawing from the Buu arc, the final arc of the manga, based on what we've seen thus far would ...

Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator
Shueisha and Toei should pay us for singing the praising of their comics and cartoons in this forum for the past 18 (eighteen) years, actually. Yeah, you know, if it's even a fraction of a penny per post, that could still add up to a sizable chunk of a marketing budget  As the most cute and pe...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.
What's wrong with it? I'm serious. I'm amazed by the AI's posibilities, but I don't understand. Explain it to me like I'm five years old, please. Guy's posted his tribute on YouTube meaning no harm. AI is a great tool, but to celebrate an artist with AI is like serving McDonalds at the funeral of a...

Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator
I definitely think that the production committee members are going to push for more Dragon Ball to be created, but I am doubtful that a central franchise figure will be chosen to replace Toriyama. I think that there will be some synergy on the part of the marketing a new animated series post-Daima, ...

They've done too much animation to quit at this point lol.AliTheZombie13 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 9:51 pm Didn't Daima have like 5 years of pre-production?
I think it'll be fine, and they straightened out everything they needed.
Doubt they'll cancel it at this point.

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
It was bad according to Toriyama. That is the point. It was bad according to Toriyama, so Toriyama changed it and we got the Lord Beerus we all know. So Lord Beerus and the entirety of BoG aligns with Toriyama's vision. Except his script is still based on the ideas of others. Making a film takes mo...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
How can I consider any of that to be some kind of "artistic vision" when it's clear Toriyama never wanted to do any of these things in the first place? Because, even though he originally "did not want to do any of those things", he still ultimately contributed to those things. H...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
I'm kind of repeating myself here, but I really don't see the point in placing some kind of 'canon' on a pedastool, when it completely ignores whether a work of art is good . I think it's important that we keep that in mind, because it isn't some nebulous idea of 'canon' that is the connective tissu...

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Canon is no reason to experience a work of art. Canon is no reason to out a work of art in a pedastool. There's nothing fun—and entirely too much importance given to—worrying about silliness like 'canon'. Find a work of art that you enjoy and enjoy it for that.
