Re: FUNimation and Toei announce online streaming of DBZ!
Okay, seeing the series in Japanese like this makes me appreciate Kai. I've been watching the first few episodes and it's so long and boring. I feel the same way I did when watching Naruto Shippuden. I think it's the soundtrack. I just... can't get into the Kikuchi track here. But why not? I sure a...

Re: FUNimation and Toei announce online streaming of DBZ!
Say, as good as the Dragon Boxes? Ironically, I remember thinking that Funimation's original GT masters were from the Dragon Box, because compared to the original and Blue Water footage... Yeah. Funimation's original GT masters are grainy and dirty as hell. The green bricks look much better. To ans...

Maybe if we argue about this long enough, Toriyama will actually descend form the Heavens to tell us he doesn't know or care.

Re: FUNimation and Toei announce online streaming of DBZ!
PenguinTruth had mentioned it, but I think it was just a slip-up by FUNi really. (Heh, "slip-up". Talk about a understatement.) I'm more inclined to think who ever handles Funimation's Twitter was confused by the fairly ambiguous term "broadcast music" than that multiple clips w...

So, is anyone starting to doubt the accuracy of that Twitter post, having seen that all the current clips feature the English dub with the Kikuchi score?

Re: DBO or DBGT, which is the true sequel of DragonBall?
Both? Neither? GT continues the original anime series, and only the original anime series. It makes multiple references to anime-only elements. It never pretends to be a continuation of the manga. This is Toei's ending for Toei's series. Dragon Ball Online takes its elements from the manga. I'm a li...

Re: FUNimation and Toei announce online streaming of DBZ!
Mixed feelings about this. The source footage is, as far as I'm concerned, neither here nor there. I have my Dragon Boxes. This is a free stream. Frankly, it's only going to be used to satisfy Dragon Ball kicks when I don't have my DVDs with me, so it doesn't have to look amazing. The Dragon Boxes a...

Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discuss
Amusing how that quote comes from Kaiou's voice actor, a character they sure didn't leave the f alone, and who ended up being the biggest shit stain on the Kai dub for that very reason. That's...not really fair. Sean's Kaiou has a very different approach than the original, but the difference is onl...

Re: Dragonball Kai (FUNimation English) Dub: General Discuss
I remember back in the day, we had this thing called television. If you wanted more programming, you had to pay for it. And you didn't get to choose what played when either. Oh, and there was a whoooole mess of ads. Sometimes there'd be three or four commercials in the middle of a show, right in a r...

It's filler, but as Goku gathers energy from nearby planets for his Genki Dama on Namek, we see some really bizarre turtle-esque animals unlike anything else in the series. And there are a ton in GT . Just off the top of my head, there are the Muuma (the giant worms in the asteroid the Para-Para Bro...

Re: The biggest flaws in Funi's GT dub
Funimation's GT is really a mixed bag. Some episodes are handled with incredible accuracy, and watching them with them with Japanese score provides something of a similar experience to watching the original version. However, some episodes, such as the Super Saiyan 4 Goku vs. Baby example, are comple...

Nope. I own almost the entire series, but I'm still excited about this. It means I don't have to lug my Dragon Boxes to college for a Dragon Ball fix. I can leave my DVDs at home.Bardo117 wrote:This is only good to people who don't already own the series.

Re: Saddest moment in Dragonball/Z/GT
1. Goku meeting Grandpa Gohan again. 2. Vegeta's death on Namek/Goku's resolution. I think the aspect that really brings that home is Goku saying he hates Vegeta, but asking for his Saiyan pride as well. Bonus points for the use of the "dun-dun-dun" track in the anime. 3. Goku sparring wit...

I think I'd like him a lot more if he wasn't Goku's blood brother. That just screams wasted potential to me, and seems like a weak plot hook. There's no reason he couldn't just have been another low-class Saiyan who happened to discover another member of his race had been sent to Earth. It's just so...

The real reason you can't have a GT Kai?
Because GT's already paced like a normal show.

I love Dragon Ball GT. My version of the story is not complete without it. Any hypothetical remake of the series should include it, if slightly revised.
Movie #11 is one of the few I can stand watching, beyond the first three.

My brother and sister occasionally, as well as friends occasionally.
My long-distance girlfriend and I also go through one arc of Dragon Ball every time we're together. She's really enjoying it. We're on the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai now.
