Re: What chance would Dragon Ball 86 have it was remade today?
Crystal wasn't a remake of the 90s anime, it was an adaption of the manga which the 90s anime wasn't. It wasn't really a Kai situation, or a remake in general.

Re: Concurrent Manga and Target Audiences - Older Fans left out?
To be fair, Tokyo Mew Mew New aired last season, it was more accurate adaptation, and Kish is still same creep towards Ichigo , and yesterday 1st episode of Urusei Yatsura remake aired, and Ataru is still same womanizer, so if Toei wanted to put dirty jokes back in, but it was more of original Drag...

Re: Rurouni Kenshin case - Would you stop supporting DB?
What an awful topic. I find speculating whether or not a guy is a nonce from some arbitrary stuff about them to be gross. I know that Toriyama has produced some rapey shit and whatever, but if we needed to talk about "separation of art from author", wouldn't that stuff be sufficient? You ...

Re: The Cell Arc Progression
I don't really think the changes in antagonists is really editorial thing, both in the sense that Torishima wasn't the editor and that, if it was, there wouldn't be months worth of chapters were the story spent time buliding up #16-#18. In comparison, the actual editoral thing of Cell's design/trans...

Re: The Thing About Goku's Hair and Artstyle
Am I reading this correctly? You believe Goku's hairstyle changes? Toriyama's artwork definitely changes, Goku's hair is maybe the one constant in the entire series. Goku's hair looks pretty different in the first arc, it's definitely a noticeable change that isn't just related to artstyle. https:/...

Re: Why is Kai disliked a lot/ not as popular?
There's no reason to think a longer lead time would've led to a much better product. Toriyama had an insane workload for a decade and produced incredible work for the bulk of it. True for the story, but given the fact that most anime tend to be made on around the same budget, time management and pr...

Re: Toriyama and Toyotaro are bad at writing female characters/female Warriors
Considering how varied and inclusive media can be, it's a shame that mediums like anime continue to be overly skewed towards boys and men despite there being properties deliberately made more for girls and women. Uh, well most anime fans online talk about to tend to be made for boys, Shoujo and Jos...

Re: Toriyama and Toyotaro are bad at writing female characters/female Warriors
To be ever so slightly fair to Toriyama, I do think some of the shortcomings with a character like #18, or even Videl in the original manga, come down to his poor writing of most his supporting characters. The story of "Character Introduced, Geunine Challenge And Interesting Story, After Introd...

i don't think you've actually made one good, or accurate point this entire thread, and people pointing that out isn't Different Strokes or them just disagreeing, you've just been wrong the entire conversation.

Re: Is Dragon Ball the biggest manga/anime series globally?
i don't really think there's any other media fans, besides like adult Disney fans or Harry Potter fans who have the same mentality about children shows then shounen fans. like even people who really like a lot of shoujo series', like i do, will admit that a lot of it is meant for fairly young girls,...

Re: Is Dragon Ball the biggest manga/anime series globally?
i don't really trust a child's view point who would've been less then 10 years old, on what was and wasn't popular back then, given how much you lack any sort of view point at that age.

I'm a little bit on Adamant's side here, in that if you're going to take on the pressure and responsibility of starting a thread, you should be providing as much context as possible. You're not shouting into the void; you're starting a discussion. That said, I find it particularly hilarious that on...

yeah probably, there's a few of series' that are bigger in japan, but i don't think any of them have had the crossover dragon ball has had. i do think some dragon ball fans tend to get a little weird about it though.

Re: The live action Sailor Moon has been found (and why it matters)
If you ask me, English dubs that try to keep the dialogue as close to the Japanese version as possible tend to sound stiff, especially when it requires the characters to make pauses in the middle of their sentences to match the lip flaps. I’ve been watching the Baki dub on Netflix, and a lot of the...

Re: The live action Sailor Moon has been found (and why it matters)
it's fine, it's a little stiff but i wouldn't call it bad, and i'm kind of a dogmatic sailor moon with regards too...everything, but i don't have a lot of complaints. i think they do a bit better with crystal though.

Who? And man, I feel a million years old when looking at these tweets. Is this really how kids write today? oh step off it, if you don't care about the vic stuff/English dubs in general, that's fine, but a lot of people do, and it's fairly related to dragon ball given this sites history and the ser...
