Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
on a personal level, the Kikuchi music is excellent and its placement problems in Kai has been massively exaggerated. I've seen you praise the Kai replacement music in other threads and have been wanting to point this out before, it seems that despite your rant on replacement music, you seem conten...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
They released Z in episode batches, once a batch of episodes was finished, it would be released for broadcast, the next batch of episodes would be dubbed while the previous batch was being broadcast on TV. I would want the same for Ocean dub Kai. By having breaks between episode batches, it makes th...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
You've said that, but haven't elaborated on why.
The point that gets conveniently ignored by some is that the music has already been replaced. That replacement music is not good enough, so another replacement music is needed for this much anticipated dub.

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
And what happened regarding the music during the initial run of Z/GT, whether Funi/Westwood/Saban is irrelevant to Kai, because doing that sort of thing today will destroy any company's credibility. No it wouldn't, and certainly not in this case. At the end of the day, we watch the DB series becaus...

Re: The hype over Ocean Dub
Speaking of sfx, I remember the first time I watched a clip of SSJ4 Goku taking Bebi Vegeta's punches then laughing them off in the Japanese version, I thought the punch sound effects were very bland and old sounding, not very convincing. The Blue Water dub of that scene changed the sfx to updated, ...

Re: DB Voice Debate (not what you think)
Another thing I wanted to discuss was how, in FUNimation's original dub using the Ocean Group cast, Brian Drummond used his Vegeta voice to imitate Kirby Morrow's Gokuu voice, presumably because the production was rushed. But I was wondering if anyone actually preferred this method. I'm not speakin...

Re: The hype over Ocean Dub
That is not a legitimate complaint if it is directed at Ocean or if Ocean are being blamed for the writing. It's been made clear time and time again that the first 53 episodes voiced by Ocean were overseen by Funimation and were produced by Funimation. The writing was overseen by Funimation and it'...

Re: The hype over Ocean Dub
That's not Ocean's fault. It was whoever produced/wrote the script! I hate when people hark on that and use it as a way to say that it was the actors faults! IT WAS FUNIMATION! But this thread is about the Ocean dub not the Ocean actors , the quality of the writing is a legitimate complaint. That i...

Re: The hype over Ocean Dub
Upon discovering that Ocean continued dubbing DBZ post Frieza saga, I've seen comments from people saying the like of their mind being blown and questioning reality. ie they found it amazing that the "Saiyan-Namek" cast completed dubbing DBZ. The Ocean dub is something that is spectacular,...

Re: Amount a certain piece of music is used in Kikuchi Kai
It may be, however from what I've seen of the Kikuchi Kai episodes post Android saga, it doesn't seem to be used very often, which is a shame because it's better than some of the other pieces that Toei likes to overuse.

Amount a certain piece of music is used in Kikuchi Kai
I've come across an interesting piece of music that is used in Kikuchi Kai, M1414- Vegeta Vs. 15, Goku Vs. 13 It's used when Goku battles #19, Krillin battles Imperfect Cell and #16 battles Imperfect Cell.
Does anyone know when else it was used, was it used in the Saiyan-Frieza saga?

Re: Who voiced Tenshinhan in the Blue Water dub?
Interesting, when I watched Dragon Ball, I did not remember Tien having different voices. I'll go back and check this but at the moment I'm not convinced that Blue Water had 2 different voice actors play Tien but if they did, they sound very similar. After checking voice samples of both actors it se...

Re: Who voiced Tenshinhan in the Blue Water dub?
The voice for Tien in the Blue Water dub of Dragon Ball was the same from start to finish (of Dragon Ball) and I'm fairly certain it was Brendan Hunter.andrewtuell1991 wrote:Brendan Hunter or Jonathan Love? Because I've seen both be listed on various sites.

Re: 2 Years on
You go, man! I've been actually a fan of the Manga mostly since Middle School. Of course, I saw Dragon Ball on Toonami when I was bored so I recalled it when I saw Vol. 1 of Dragon Ball and bought it. As of now, I'm damn proud to have read the Manga first given I found the dub to my disliking in tr...

2 Years on
It's been 2 years yesterday since I joined this forum, so reflection time. I didn't mention this before but I used the daizex website for a number of years before joining the forum. I didn't really consider joining the forum (but I'm glad I did) and rarely checked the forum, until Dragon Ball Kai ca...

Re: When Cartoon Network aired a .RM encode of 'Free the Fut
I remember the "poor video quality" episodes very clearly. It was the first few in the Other World Tournament saga and I remember being baffled by them. However let me clarify this. It was the very first run and maybe the next near succession reruns (ie later on in the day after prime time...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Stop making me excited! Got myself excited as well, and then remembered that in the Ocean dub of the Android saga, there was a flashback covering scenes from the Saiyan-Freeza saga and there we got a taste of McNeil's Piccolo fighting Newstone's 2nd form Frieza. And of course McNeil had the opportu...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Personally, I would want them to release a batch of episodes, then wait a few weeks or 2-3 months (with reruns of the first batch) before releasing the next batch of episodes, and so on. Much like how Cartoon Network broadcast DBZ episodes. That way, they don't exhaust the episodes too quickly. And ...
