I don't think vegeta would bail on goku to go fight some frieza villians so i hope the ryuaka translation is fake as it wouldn't make any sense for him to do that. Maybe he has some knowledge on the planet and is looking for an artifact or a technique.

i think the goku losing his forms due to energy drain is how he shows his forms off in order so it's natural to go from ssj red to ssj3 since ssj3 to ssj red is the progression. I don't think toto was over thinking it here he just wanted to show something "cool"
