Re: Reused/Recycled Animation
Yes, the animation was not recycled, it was drawn from scratch. New key animation and in-between drawings were made and the framing and timing is completely different. It's not lazy because detailed drawings are not a prerequisite of good animation. either. It's not roto-scoped, either, nor did Uch...

Re: Reused/Recycled Animation
It's a tribute to the Opening animation. It was drawn from scratch, using the precious little money afforded to each episode. 'Lazy' it was not. Did you watch the clip? 'Drawn from scratch'. You just contradicted yourself. Sure it has more frames than the original opening, but each frame doesn't co...

Reused/Recycled Animation
After watching MrWalnut4's favorite scenes from Kai he 'sparked' my interest.... https://youtu.be/Otc-N-Yt8Qg Not sure if this recycled scene from episode 178 was re-animated out of laziness, or a clear tribute to the intro. (is the correct term 'recycled'?) That was the most obvious instance but on...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Yeah, from the gist of it, the dub looks like it was produced as somewhat of a gambit, with a hope (or expectation) of TV licensing deals that just didn't happen for whatever reason. It has all the makings of a total white elephant , but I think the biggest mystery that surrounds it is quite simply...

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I feel like whenever FUNi does announce this, a whole lot of people are going to be disappointed because they wanted/expected a Super announcement rather than the continuation of something that ended in 2012 and is just a re-telling of an existing story. I'm not one of these people (I'm really look...

Re: On a quest for all the Dragon Ball CD Soundtracks...
It's not going to be easily achievable, there's more CDs out there than you think. The US History of Trunks OST is virtually non-existent, same with Raging Blast 2 Overseas Version. Look for those two releases first, the rest can be found and bought without difficulty, for a price maybe. Do you want...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Other than Champa, Super won't have any worthwhile original content until the ROF arc is finished. The whole series relies on this new arc, for all we know won't begin until April 2016. I wish Digimon took Torkio's place so that we could have a new Dragon Ball show that cuts to the chase, so far the...

Re: MangaUK Licenses Dragon Ball Z Kai for DVD & Blu-ray
Do the users here disgust you because it's not as if anyone from this forum is responsible for Manga UK's incompetence. Nope, but that doesn't give this community the right to take advantage of that incompetence. It doesn't exactly put the DBZ community in a good light when we have users saying &qu...

Re: MangaUK Licenses Dragon Ball Z Kai for DVD & Blu-ray
MangaUK should probably be alerted about the score that isn't supposed to be used. I don't think it's right for a distributor to not be notified of such a legal issue. At the same time nobody would complain if they got to see the final volume with the Yamamoto score, because it doesn't exist. It's ...

Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
This is conjecture, but IMO the most likely explanation for them fiddling with the episode count is that they only intended the Japanese broadcast to be a timeslot filler until they could start airing Super. They projected that they would need X number of weeks to get the first episodes of Super in...

Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I would like to know the exact reasons why they switched the episode count, did they really plan on airing all 69 episodes from the start? ROF's release date, Digimon Tri delay (perhaps switched from a TV series to OVAS) and a very rushed production on Super, we'll not know the exact reasoning. What...

Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
I skip through episodes, pacing is worse than One Piece .... that's bad, I mean Super isn't based on a weekly manga or anything.
Whatever the reasoning behind the slow pace for BOG arc I hope it has given Toei a chance to develop an interesting plot.

Re: Dragon Ball's True Genre: We Need to Talk about Wuxia
Wow, best thread I've ever read! Knowing all this information now has made me appreciate the manga a lot more from all his inspiration, the original background music in DB and Z stays true to Akira's DBworld. I'm interested to know more about Wuxia's influence on the Buu saga, I guess it was was som...

Re: Thoughts on Kibitoshin defusing
Supreme Kai's character design was cool but Kibitoshin color scheme and design looked bad, they shouldn't have fused in the first place. On the subject, the whole ear-ring fusion thing was unnecessary. Vegeta and Goku fusing was pointless as soon as they defused once entering Buu's body, it was chea...

Re: What does TOEI use to animate with now?
They use Retas Suite for just about everything. Keyframes are done on pencil and scanned, backgrounds probably Photoshop or something similar, audio who knows, but all elements are brought together using Retas.

If anyone at Ocean Studios is reading this, you MUST release this dub. This topic is now 161 with 163,289 page views, it would be an awful waste if nothing were to come from this dub considering the HUGE fan support!

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
The title from episode 13 (Goku aiming to go beyond SSG) implies they're indeed covering the ground between the movies, instead of bringing in Freeza right off the bat. I wonder if that means he's going after Whis right away (after a timeskip?), trying something by himself, or if just part of the e...

Is this cover confirmation that Super will be re-telling the 'F' movie? The preview of the full version sounds promising, too bad the show itself just isn't.
