Re: Vic Mignogna
This is wokespeak for "I don't want to debate your position because it makes me feel uncomfortable so I'm just gonna passive-aggressively show how I'm morally superior to you." Stop, be an adult, you're better than this. Either muster up a real response or leave your grandstanding at the ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Saiyan nature, in the original series, is not just fighting. It's fighting for self-gratification though torture and murder. I don't need modern stories to contradict this part. The original series already does that for me. What you're describing is clearly more akin to Saiyan nurture , specificall...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Saiyan nature isn't fighting. Saiyan nature is absolutely fighting. Their culture has a marauder-like disposition, but that's only because it's the most useful role you could bestow on a race that takes pleasure in battle. According to Toriyama , Saiyans are born with an innate talent/tendency for ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Paragus may have exiled himself, but he's still a Saiyan at heart. Every Saiyan in the film is a Saiyan at heart. Broly is a Saiyan at heart, and the movie makes that crystal clear on at least three separate occasions. The Saiyans shouldn't be sympathetic when the reason Broly is sympathetic is bec...

Re: Vic Mignogna
Creepy behavior and an indifference or ignorance toward personal boundaries, at the most; worthy of a slap on the wrist, but not the kind of ostracization he's being subject to. I find your position about unwanted sexual advances for well over a decade being worthy of "a slap on the wrist"...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Paragus makes it distinctly clear that he divorced himself from Saiyan society and only cares about revenge now. He's hardly analogous to the Saiyans at all. The point about Broly not fighting because he wants to simply means that he was fighting against his will -- nothing more, nothing less. Nothi...

Re: What Bardock do you prefer?
Buckle up and get ready for an unpopular opinion: Minus Bardock is a better character than 90's Bardock. He's a better character because he's better at being a character. My problem with the TV special is that it lacks any semblance of individualism and narrative repercussion, so it's a pointless st...

Let me be clear: I’m not defending Mignogna. I’m not, so please don’t talk about how much I make you cringe. And let me be clear: I'm not attacking you. I don't know why you seem convinced that I am. The "proofreading" word implies I was referring to my own previous sentence when I said I...

I was simply asking if he deserved the same kind of scrutiny if he didn’t intend for his interactions to be sexual in anyway. You asked what I previously quoted, which is what I answered. I'm not reacting to you , I'm reacting to the absurdity of the situation and how people have tried to construe ...

Re: Vic Mignogna
What if him hugging girls and kissing them on the cheek wasn’t meant to be sexual on his part, but was simply him trying to be affectionate without realizing that some of these girls might have personal boundaries? I’m not saying that’s the case, but what if it is? Why does that matter? Understandi...

Re: Vic Mignogna
Regardless of whether Vic's intentions were pure, this is absolutely not how you should approach your fans. Full stop.
Not everybody feels validated or comfortable by this kind of behavior without consent, and after so many years of attending conventions, he should have known better.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
They really weren’t preparing. Gokou can literally teleport instantly to someone’s location. They got there when Moro got there Maybe that was an odd choice of words on my part, but I meant that they were standing there in wait as the ship landed. It's just one of a few visual similarities I'd noti...

see, normally you would explain how/why it is a "gross misunderstanding and misrepresentation" rather than just saying so. Didn't anyone teach you not to throw stones from glass houses? Just six posts ago you replied to me with a pointless "You can't be serious" instead of clari...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
I'd think it really comes down to one's tolerance for smaller-scale arcs in the overarching franchise. None of these modern tales feel especially non-linear to me. Even the Future Trunks arc - for as much as it likes to indulge in its own back-and-forth time travel and crazy temporal exploits - is p...

Re: Dragon Ball Super Strength Discussion Thread
I'd say it's pretty straightforward that Broly's full power form is as strong as the guy gets. That screaming sequence at the end is contextually more indicative of him running on fumes rather than exceeding his own power.

Re: Should King Piccolo be recognized as one of classic Dragon Ball’s main villains alongside Freeza, Cell, and Majin Bo
Why do people throw around TVTropes terms like it's common vernacular? Not trying to sound snarky, I'm legitimately curious. As for the topic, hell to the yes. Villains in Dragon Ball don't need to be deeply layered or complex. What makes an unapologetically bad dude like King Piccolo so great is th...

Re: What are your top 10 favorite DB films, TV specials and OVAs?
Glad we have a thread for this. I have a weird fascination with the Dragon Ball movies, despite thinking that almost three quarters of them range from vomit-inducing at worst to just barely above average at best. I don't know why the hell I do it, but my guilty pleasure is marathoning every single o...

Re: ToP Arc: The Worst and most boring Arc of Super so far?
I've discussed it more in other threads, but it suffers from the same problem that the retellings did; the whole arc is unadulterated bloat. It's quantity over quality. It's empty spectacle, sometimes at the story's own expense. The thing about Toriyama's modern stories is that they're structurally ...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"
Something I found interesting was just how close Gogeta was to punching a hole in Broly's gut like Goku did in the original movie. I was actually really afraid that it was gonna happen again when they showed the close-ups of Gogeta gut-punching Broly. Imagine that! Being afraid that Broly was gonna...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread
Marlowe89 , you say that Vegeta isn't embarrassed to discuss his feelings towards Goku/Freeza/Whis etc. What scenes are you thinking about? As a whole, there are several examples of that (Majin Vegeta's goodbye to Trunks, Vegeta's decision to stop training under Whis in the Tournament of Power, his...
