The season two teaser looked moderately decent compared to what I've seen of season one thus far.

The new sets are better for being consistently terrible. Oh, what a world we live in.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #861 in Movies & TV. To put that into perspective, Miyazaki's widely popular Spirited Away is #586 in Movies & TV. For Japanese animation, and a series that has been milked this much, it's doing well.

Nah, it would just mean that a select group of people thinks they're horrible. But, really, people should not be deciding whether or not to purchase a remaster entirely on the Amazon user rating. Even reviews should be taken with a grain of salt.

I've just been looking on the Amazon page again, and it's really sad to see this with a significantly lower score than the orange bricks, when it's actually a better product. It may be better if the viewer's sole interest is in the English dub. The low quality Japanese track meshes even more poorly...

That combination of Japanese audio and the new remaster is so jarring. It doesn't fit at all.

Well, no, but I don't think it's accurate to say that people are upset here only because of cropping. This footage, imo, would still look terrible in its original aspect ratio.

Well, the fact that this release is selling well (just look at season one's rank on the Amazon best sellers) tells us that they are indeed doing what the fans want. It's just not what we want.

Unfortunately, if this release were to bomb, that would likely kill any chance of getting more Dragon Box releases. But it doesn't seem like that's happening, anyway.

We certainly won't get anything better than the Dragon Box unless Toei does do that HD remaster.

Well, if a Dragon Box rerelease isn't outside the realm of possibilities (despite there being no plans for it), that's what I'll be holding out for.

I'd rather see Kai on Toonami than Z. At least then people unfamiliar with the series might get a decent first impression (when it comes to voice acting, anyway).

The average DBZ fan's only frame of reference would likely be the Orange Bricks, so they'll happily accept the new remaster. FUNimation does this because they can get away with it, and if milking the franchise still pulls in money, they're going to do it.
