Goku could easily smash Uub into paste if he went all-out, even in base. But that's not his style. He likes to savor a good fight, so he holds back, and fights at his opponent's level. Even if he had unlimited stamina at the ToP, he wouldn't just go blue and waste everyone. He'd enjoy it.

Frieza doesn't just want U7 to win; he wants to be the last man standing so he gets to wish upon the SDBs. If Gohan, or somebody else, wants to take the lead in a specific battle, and thus assume more of the risk, he's fine with that. And it paid off. Dyspo is out, and Gohan took the fall making it ...

It's more human-like, while being big and imposing, like Frieza's middle forms. It works for what it is, an intermediate form. I like it just fine.

I watch new episodes of Super on YouTube every week. I know those uploads are not official, but Super is literally the only anime I watch. I'm not going to subscribe to a service for one show.
