Re: DB Filler vs. DBZ Filler? Which one is the most tolerabl

I actually enjoy nearly all of the filler in Dragon Ball quite a lot. I like extra stories, and extra details for stories. The filler in Z is awful, I can barely watch the Freeza or Majin Boo battles because they're the worst-paced things I've ever seen, and even the extra stories, like fake Namek, ...

Re: How you feel plotholes and retcons should have been hand

Boss rabbit, that's one I'd forgot about. The Nyoi-Bo is just long enough to reach the Heavenly Realm from the top of Karin Tower, yet Goku used it to take Boss Rabbit to the moon (and boss rabbit was then killed by Kame-Sennin when he blew up the moon). I'm sure if Toriyama knew what he was going t...

2. The powers of gods Kami's powers weren't of any use from Saiyan arc & on. In fact, he himself wasn't of any use, and he admitted this himself. I'm sure that if he had the chance to use his godly powers, he would have. It's just that he never had any reason to do anything, same for Kaio &...

Re: The segments of filler you hated but sat through anyways

Filler that disrupts the plot without adding anything to it. This includes most of the times we see Bulma on Namek, anything to do with Maron (I don't mind the Garlic Jr saga in general, at least it delivers a story), any time we cut to Roshi doing something perverted or stupid IN THE MIDDLE OF A PL...

How you feel plotholes and retcons should have been handled.

The Dragon Ball series has many a plothole, inconsistency, contradiction, retcon and so on, but if you were Toriyama, and you'd actually planned ahead and thought about these things, how would you have handled them? Here are a few classic examples: 1. The speed of fighting : Early in Dragon Ball the...

Re: REAL Reasons to Dislike the Original Japanese Version

People listing the different ways to view the show made me think. To me there are five main, distinct ways to experience the Dragon Ball story: 1. The manga 2. The anime 3. Kai 4. The Funimation dub 5. The Ocean dub All of these offer considerably different experiences to each other. There's also no...

Re: REAL Reasons to Dislike the Original Japanese Version

I avoided the Japanese version for quite a long time, praising the dub for making something great out of source material that didn't seem all too good. I thought the music was cheesy and outdated in the few scenes I watched (like Goku's SSJ and SSJ3 transformations) compared to the replacement music...

Re: Dragon Ball becomes really mainstream

I'd really like it if the franchise became properly mainstream again. Like if it got back the 5pm slot on Cartoon Network that it used to have here and a whole new generation went Dragon Ball crazy like mine did. I'd really like this to happen so that new stuff gets released, like blu-rays or kanzen...

Re: Dragon Ball becomes really mainstream

Well here in the UK, everyone has heard of Dragon Ball Z and sort of know what it is, pretty much all young adults know who Goku is and what Super Saiyans and Kamehamehas are, and, of course, have heard "IT'S OVER 9000!!!". Quite a few people who were children in the '90s have watched it, ...

Re: A Few Items for Trade/Sale... (Image Heavy!)

I think I might have TV recordings on VHS of DBZ from Cartoon Network as aired in the UK from Porunga being summoned on Namek to Majin Buu arriving at the temple after becoming pure evil. I may not have them any more, but should I look for them?

Roshi. He meets Vegeta, bangs him (without protection) and that's it.

Seriously though, I think exactly the same thing. Though gluttony could actually be Yakon, since he did eat himself to death.

Re: Which timeskip would you like to see expanded upon?

I'd love to see things from all of them! My ideal Dragon Ball remake would flesh out Kame-Sennin's training more, have content from Goku's three-year solo training arc (I'm imagining lots of fun adventures, there could be a great mini-arc here), do something with the five year gap between the 23rd T...

Re: The Fr ie za thing.

I like "Fr i eza", I think it's clear how it should be said and it looks better and more like a name than "Freeza" or "Freezer", and can be taken more seriously. I like "Furiza" more than those two as well, for the same reasons, but I wouldn't use "Furiza...

Re: Why didn't Goku use the Shunkan Ido to get to Earth?

The reason he had to travel almost the whole way to Earth in the space pod was because teleportation only works if you can sense a ki where you need to teleport to, and he was too far away. In the original timeline he stepped in to fight Freeza and his ship landed a few hours later. What I don't und...

Re: Western equivelents of the characters' accents?

I'm confused. Is this thread about finding English equivalents of the various Japanese accents that appear in the story, or is it about what kind of accents you'd like to see certain characters have, regardless of how they speak in Japanese? I started the thread meaning for it to be about the close...

Re: Western equivelents of the characters' accents?

Maybe it would be a good idea for Raditz, Vegeta, Nappa, Ginyus etc. Basically everyone from space to have a sort of generic English accent that is more subtle and not OTT, while Freeza has a more pronounced Brittish accent, just to make him more evil. There was another thread I read somewhere in wh...

Re: Western equivelents of the characters' accents?

Well, since this is a completely opinion-based discussion, I'd say the limits are wherever you, personally, want them to be. For me, even something like a German accent of some sort for General Blue is fine, but if people were speaking English in a bunch of different Japanese accents, I'd just think...
