Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread

Looks like DBS Super Hero's box office has officially tapped out at $92.9 million. It's the second highest-grossing Dragon Ball movie ever.

Re: Akira Toriyama's Bardock is weak character-wise.

Akira Toriyama's Bardock is one of the worst-written characters in all of Dragon Ball for a multitude of reasons I've gone into excruciating detail about in the past. Toyotaro makes things even worse by doubling down on the most problematic elements that Toriyama introduces with Bardock's characteri...

Announcement imminent.
Looks like Shintani confirmed.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie #2 Thread: "Super Hero"

Goku thinking that Vegeta is being lazy and would get rusty, due to Vegeta meditating is a huge contradiction. Goku even calls Vegeta a fibber. I don't know why DBS always makes Goku look like a brainless character, when that wasn't the case in DB. Goku did meditation in these instance and knows ho...

Re: Why is Kai disliked a lot/ not as popular?

Looking back on Kai, it is very much serviceable if you're looking for decent performances and an accurate script from the FUNimation cast. But for those who were originally fans of the original Japan broadcast of the show (Dragon Ball Z), Kai is completely redundant. Yes, Kai certainly benefits fro...

Re: Toriyama and Toyotaro are bad at writing female characters/female Warriors

I've already made my point in the past about how I feel when it comes to Dragon Ball and their handling of female characters so I'll just repeat what I've said before: Dragon Ball in general is pretty bad at writing female characters. Every major female character introduced in the main story either ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread

As of 6/10/2022, Dragon Ball Super has generated $89.5 million in box office revenue. $71 million internationally and $18.5 million in Japan . It really can't be understated how much the international audience dragged this movie from the gutter with how much it underperformed in Japan compared to th...

Re: How do you feel about DBS retroactively saying "Beerus did it"?

I don't mind most of Beerus' contributions to the lore of Dragon Ball like wrecking King Kai's planet, wiping out the dinosaurs, making King Vegeta his bitch and sealing Old Kai in the sword because, in the grand scheme of things, they are ultimately minor events. However, I feel the one event that ...

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread

The film grossed over $87 million worldwide and has become the second-highest-grossing Dragon Ball film ever. Massive credit to the international audience for supporting this movie. Despite it performing worse in several countries compared to DBS Broly, especially in Japan, it still pulled in a good...

I found myself pretty bored with the arc quite quickly, the last time watched it. Definitely a below-average arc for me.

Re: Dragon Ball GT Ending; Moving or Depressing?

I actually talked about the ending of GT when I rewatched the show a few years ago . To paraphrase what I previously said: The ending of GT is so anti-Toriyama, but you know what, I can't imagine the ending being as effective as it was if they didn't go that route. This final episode carries such a...

Piccolo gets my vote. Bonus point for his death having the biggest impact on the plot of Dragon Ball.

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Box Office Thread

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero Film Beats Broly to Reach Top 5 All-Time Anime Films in U.S. The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero anime film is earning an estimated US$30,761,982 after its second weekend in North America. That brings the film above Dragon Ball Super: Broly (US$30,712,119 in 2018) and pu...

Anyone can have incredible potential when the plot demands it in Dragon Ball. At this stage in Dragon Ball, it's a crapshoot.

Re: Akira Toriyama getting cancelled (not really: contextless, disingenuous social media videos)

Lady Red is indeed a terrible comic with grossly sexist undertones, that can certainly be picked apart for its unfortunate implications. Unfortunately, a common thread I've picked up when I see videos like this on YouTube is they are usually in bad faith, lack context and are quite disingenuous when...

Re: Freeza to dethrone Zeno in the end? Final big bad?

I'd rather Freeza get killed off before he gets anywhere near Zeno. Freeza has already been the endgame for a good section of Dragon Balls' original story, why not let another antagonist have that role?

Re: Is Dragon Ball the biggest manga/anime series globally?

I suppose? I mean, One Piece, Gundamn and Anpanman are bigger series in Japan than Dragon Ball, but Dragon Ball is more recognisable in a worldwide census when you consider anime and/or manga series specifically.

Re: Super Hero is proof it's time for a live-action DB movie franchise

All DBS Superhero is proof is off is that a lot of people like Dragon Ball. I have no idea how an anime film that is very likely not to make more than $90 million at the box office when all is said and done somehow translates to there being an audience for a live-action adaptation of Dragon Ball. Th...
