Re: Question about the Manga releases.
Yeah, as far as I remember, they only went through "Volume 10" of each "series."

Re: Star Trek V Reference in DBZ
Well, I did just get done watching The Wrath of Khan, so I think I might have remembered that. Give me USS Grissom or Saratoga, and then you'll prove your extreme nerdiness. =PBussani wrote:

Re: Character Designs
Geez, really? All this hate for 28th Budokai-era Videl? I thought the flapper-esque haircut was totally hot! Granted, I loved the ponytail look too. The Gohan-inspired haircut took a bit of getting used to, but I ended up liking that too. Let's see, as for a design I didn't like, I sometimes don't l...

Re: "Supreme" Kai really was beyond useless
Again, because that was the joke. The powerups in the series were becoming self-parody. They had already surpassed God (Kami-sama), God's God (Kaio), and now, before God's God's God shows up, he's already outclassed. The same kind of joke is done when Roukaioshin boasts about his ability to do a pow...

Re: How do you suppose the Time Chamber (RoSaT) was created?
Well, delving into a bit of filler for a second, given the Clock Room and the Pendulum Room, quite a few authors (including eventually Toriyama himself with the RoSaT) seemed to like the idea of God being able to have some control or access to time itself.

Re: Star Trek V Reference in DBZ
Well, speaking as a Star Trek fan, any one who is worth his (or her) salt would instantly be able to rattle off the serial number of any number of Enterprises. Thus, when it shows up, I think it probably does catch the eye, so maybe it's not that farfetched to catch it. I'd like to go back to my fan...

Re: Why Majin Buu is the worst villain in DBZ
I agree with both sides. It's true that the whole regeneration thing got quite old. It was old enough with Cell and even worse here. To me, it contributed to the fights no longer feeling grueling. For comparison's sake, I think the Saiya-jin fight did the best in this regard. It escalates almost the...

Re: Tenshinhan from outer space?
Ugh, I always hated that Daizenshuu "explanation" that Tenshinhan was from alien ancestry. He was perfectly fine as an earthling. It's just one more example of the sci-fi mentality bleeding over into the fantasy. Like has been said, there are all kinds of bizarre earthlings in the series. ...

Star Trek V Reference in DBZ
Thanks to rewatching the series on the Dragon Box, I've found an interesting little nod to, what was then, the most recent Star Trek movie in a filler sequence in episode 22 of DBZ. Basically, an Enterprise shuttlecraft (with an NCC-1701-A marking) was one of the news vehicles destroyed by Nappa (or...

As for the main question, I put it down to the time travel done in that crazy clock room being done only in the mind, so the things Goku encounters in the past may be distorted from how they would be in the real world. Herms has a point. Remember the gravity on Planet Vegeta not affecting the Z gan...

Yeah, that does look like a pretty nice boxset aside from the video flaws. I like the cover art, and how they use kana for the names of the characters featured on each box. In terms of the menus, that's a bit of a weird shape for the scouter display, though, and it looks to me like the menus themsel...

I was just rewatching the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, and the episode where Piccolo releases his... er, crap, I forgot the name of it, but the attack that pretty much leaves Papaya Island a wasteland, pretty much epitomized Drag-on Ball. I wouldn't be surprised if this is where this style originated. Co...

Yeah, I agree with Bussani about the bodies of Yamucha and the others. The way I see it is that gods and other advanced beings automatically get to keep their bodies when they die. Probably similarly to Goku, Kami-sama petitioned Enma to allow them to keep their bodies after he had met up with them ...

Guh, I haven't seen the dub in forever.....*thinks*.... For Funi: -I really enjoyed the cheese Gohan's VA injected into his Saiyaman voice. It was charmingly dorky. Yeah, FUNimation's mix is pretty terrible. I guess Toei gave them a bad effects and music track. Naw, most of their 5.1 tracks have ended up this way. Their own fault. Yeah, but if TOEI only gave them mono score tracks, then what can you really do? No matter what you do to it, the exact same music ...

Well, like you said, both instances are filler. They have a hard enough time matching with canon material. You really expect them to match with each other? But unless I'm mistaken, when Goku confronts Mutaito, Popo's trying to teach him about sensing ki, which apparently is a concept that Mut...
