Re: Dragonball Kai dub?
In terms of plot points being completely rewritten, or in terms of rewording of dialogue to fit in with the timing of the mouth movements? The dialogue was quite different in the first 13 episodes however, because FUNimation reused the old Sabanized scripts when they went back and re-dubbed it. Who...

Re: "Over 9000" kept in Dragon Ball Kai?
I'd like it if they got the line right, but I have no doubt that they will keep "Over 9,000." They just will. I'm practically sure of it. Hmm, I wonder if we can turn this into a gambling thread. I'd bet money they say "Over 9,000."

Re: DB or DBZ: Which is better?
Like most other people, I have to clarify that I also see it as one series, Dragon Ball, because it is. But if I were forced to split them up and choose, I'd probably go with the former, for the same reason as innagaddadavida, because it's the underappreciated part. Well, no, it's not just because o...

Re: DBZU and DBZU2 seems to be officially gone now.
Ah, so glad that DBZU is back up. I've had quite a bit of fun re-reading those old editorials. I do with Chris was still active in the fandom. First off because it was primarily due to him that I got into the Japanese version in the first place. But right now, I would love, love, LOVE to ask him wha...

Re: Lunch or Launch?
I'm hesitant to say that "Launch" is solely a FUNimation mistranslation. Maybe it's the only "official" misreading, but I swear I'd read the name "Launch" on websites back in '98, before FUNimation ever utilized the character, so it seems like maybe other fans have made...

Re: The Dragonball time line really doesn't make any sense
That was Greg Werner who originated the misuse of "A.D." wasn't he? And apparently it was fairly recently that even DaizenshuuEX realized it was supposed to be "Age" because I re-read an old "Ask" column about the dating system where Mike purported that Julian's theory ...

Re: How many VHS tapes did Toei officially release?
Basically. The whole reason (supposedly) why it took FUNimation years to be able to do bilingual DVDs is because TOEI didn't want them to have something that their domestic audience didn't have. And that's also probably why, until the DBoxes, the DVDs they did put out were always missing certain com...

Re: Dragon Box Z 3 Trailer & Cover Art
Vegeta only says "It's over 9000" once. So, wait, is everyone really getting the "mondo cool" quote from that one instance where he said it? I assumed that he just said it more often in the Ocean dub. The phrase "mondo cool" originated in season 3, so it wasn't an Ocea...

Re: Episode #0209 (14 February 2010)
Yeah, I just wanted to also add that I have never been supportive of the domestic manga split. Again, just like with Z Kai, I understand the logic (and with Viz, it was twofold in order to release both parts simultaneously), but I still don't like it. I'm certainly not praising one and criticizing t...

Re: FUNimation Announces "Kai" License ("DBZ Kai")
It's been a while since I've seen dub Cell stuff, but, if I recall right, her older Gohan was almost unbearable. Eh, from a certain perspective it was okay, but she turned the rasp up to 11. I was really surprised the poor kid managed to breathe with that much asthma/sinus infection/head cold/pneumo...

Re: FUNimation Announces "Kai" License ("DBZ Kai")
Whoohoo! Quite glad to hear the recasting of Bulma and Gohan! Could never stand either of those two! Colleen seems a bit better as Gohan, but I would love more than anything if they refrained from doing that stupid perpetual head cold voice for just one prepubescent Gohan! Just once!

Basically, yeah...
Okay, while lack of information is not necessarily information of lack, there's no evidence that points to the moon ever being restored, it's a good bet to assume it didn't unless something specifically contradicts it.

Yeah, my thought is it must be for new fans and to pimp out on their demo reel: "See, we didn't screw up DBZ that bad! We kept the original music in at least!"

Re: Dragon Box Z 2's Hands On Discussion
Amazingly, in a way I almost agree with you. With the DBoxes, I've gotten back in the habit of spot checking the dub, which I haven't done in forever. Hearing the Japanese score backing the dub is cool, but there have been those annoying moments when it's obvious that the script wasn't written for t...

Re: Criticism
I remember reading Mike's piece on this the day he posted it and never gave it a second thought. In fact, it's rather ironic. I would have assumed that he put that clarifier on the post in order to avoid backlash. It's pretty well-known that DaizenshuuEX (and specifically Mike) is not a fan of the d...

Re: Displaying your Dragon Ball DVD's. What's your preference?
Well, I don't currently have a shelf, so my DVDs are stacked in a corner. But if I DID have a shelf, I'd go with the first option and have the actual spines facing out rather than the spine art. So, Tanooki, I have a question that I hadn't thought of since I'm skipping the DB season sets. Apparently...
