While I see no real problem with a capsule inside a capsule, doesn't it just make it a bit redundant? Maybe having a capsule case full of capsules inside a capsule would be a lot more useful though

Ah yeah I thought so, I just couldn't shake the idea that it was a pretty horrible miscalculation on the Saiyan's part, and maybe I was missing something like he would have been strong enough if he followed his pure Saiyan instincts?
