Re: If you have real life Dragon Balls....

If I had one wish, it would be a wordy one. Something like "Alter my mind in such a way that my conscious brain is aware of everything that my subconscious brain is aware of, I never forget anything, absorb all information, am intelligent enough to easy understand and store all of this informat...

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued

They might have been intended to extend the Blu-ray releases to the original Dragon Ball in 2013. I hope they either release a Dragon Ball Dragon Box, or finish the Blu-rays and include Dragon Ball, just so I can have one consistent, high quality release of the entire story.

Re: Should the "Z" in Dragon Ball be dropped for internation

Personally, I despise the "Z". I dislike it so much because it misleads people into thinking that Dragon Ball Z is some superior sequel to Dragon Ball, or Dragon Ball is a prequel to Dragon Ball Z. People don't realise they're starting a story more than one third of the way through, and th...

Re: Dragon Ball: The Musical

I think this would work. A musical can easily portray both comedic storylines like the earlier parts of the series, and serious ones. For example, The Phantom of the Opera has a serious, deep, dark and emotional storyline, and the musical adaptation doesn't lose that or seem absurd in any way. A mus...

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued

If I ever have enough money, I plan to buy them, and learn Japanese :P I've heard that some people here bought the Japanese Dragon Boxes and "applied subtitles to them". Does that mean they actually changed the content of the discs? That sounds like a definite improvement to me, as an Engl...

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued

I'm almost completely sure there will be five. They could put 30 eps in each box with the last one having 33, and have 5 boxes. (close to Z's boxes) Though really 4 boxes would bring them closer to the same size as the Z ones, they'd have 38 episodes each with one 39. Personally, I think three boxe...

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued

I am wondering how they'll manage to split the box up though, because the DVD's of the Dragon Ball DBox are split up into seven DVD books, each with one of the Dragon Balls on it. Seven is a prime number, so there's really no way they can split them up without having unevenly sized sets, so they mig...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

Apart from the flaw that the first movie can't possibly fit into the time line, I actually like the Garlic Junior arc. If they hadn't made it a sequel to a non-canon movie but had kept most other things in tact, it would be a pretty good fantasy story. It makes a change from have fight > win fight >...

Re: Scenes you prefer in the dub

I hadn't seen this. I always kind of liked the Z dub of Vegeta's death, with "If there is a God he must be good for letting me live to see this day!" and the "He took me away from my father when I was just a little boy" speech, not to mention "He turned you into what he wan...

Re: Scenes you prefer in the dub

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSNPVv1k9b8 This scene completely blows the original into dust. The music, the acting, dialogue was perfect. IMO. Woah, Sean Schemmel is really awesome there, I never realised the original Z dub ever had acting like that. Vegeta's death and speech in Kai. Sabat has co...

Re: Scenes you prefer in the dub

AND FOR BETRAYING THE SAIYAN RACE, YOU WILL DIE! Justin Cook really nailed that line as Raditz. Hell, I love his performance as Raditz in general. I really like Raditz's voice, for some reason I think he sounds cool when he says "Power level thirteen hundred and thirty?! I can't block that!&qu...

Scenes you prefer in the dub

I made this with the Funimation dub in mind, but I guess any dub is fine. I prefer the original Japanese audio in general, as I know most other people here do, but I also know a lot of people tend to prefer the SJJ and SSJ3 transformations in the Funi dub with Faulconer's score, and I agree with the...

Surely if those terms were used properly according to their definitions, 8, 17, 18 and 20 would be cyborgs, and 16 and 19 would be androids?

Re: Dub or Viz-specific terminology you're fond of?

As for the dub, I really prefer the spelling "Frieza" (Autocorrect, there's meant to be an "i" in there) to "Freezer", and I'm more fond of "Krillin" than "Kuririn".

Re: Dub or Viz-specific terminology you're fond of?

I've always liked the Lord of Worlds and Lord of Lords too, and the way they translate Kami as "God" unlike Funimation. I think I prefer most Viz terminology, really. Is The Lord of Worlds a translation of "Kaio", or is his name Kaio and his title The Lord of Worlds?

Frieza saga challange... Would that be the the "Season 3" episodes, or the real Frieza saga? And what would you name a game of watching with entire Ocean dub, filling in the gap with the original Funi fub? :P

Re: Dragon Ball Dub- Random Removal of Insert Songs

I always just thought it was because the songs were in Japanese, so they removed them as part of the Americanisation. They had no need to do it with Z or GT because they completely replaced the scores at first anyway.

Re: If you won a $200 Amazon gift card

The Daizenshuu's would be the first thing on the list. It's lots of smaller pieces I'd buy if I came into some money, like some other guidebooks, some CDs, Neko Majin, The Journey to the West, a mug with the Kanji for "turtle" on it... I'd really like the kanzenbans, but I'm currently tryi...

Re: "Chilled"

I always prefer it when names are translated in a way that gets away from the pun. If Bulma were "Bloomers", Jeice were "Cheese" or Frieza were "Freezer" it would prevent my Western brain from taking the serious parts of the story seriously. So Childo is better than Chi...
