Re: Old artstyle vs New Artstyle 2.0

Here's a fun quote from a conversation Kevin from Sakugablog had in relation to Yamamuro and his modern Dragonball content. "you have to give it to yamamuro & co, they've successfully brainwashed a whole generation by misinterpreting what was good about DBZ visually and then forcing it to s...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I watched the LA premiere of the Broly film. So I am entitled to make a fully informed comparison, English-dubbed at the very least. And my conclusion is that the new Broly has none of the characterization that originally made him popular in his debut. His personality is boring and doesn't lead to ...

Re: Old artstyle vs New Artstyle 2.0

I don't think this is the worst thing ever, however, it still, hilariously boring in contrast to the truly exciting stuff that has been surrounding the movie and the new art style in general. The art in that little promo is as by the numbers modern Yamamuro as by the numbers modern Yamamuro can get....

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I really dislike the "Toyo tracing" accusations, because I think that sort of misconstrues the actual problem people have with him in many instances, which was far more him repeatedly falling back on the same poses and angles for specific types of scenes. I think people can get really over...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Something I will say I very much appreciate about the heist sequence was that the action actually had an interesting set piece and was far more than the typical ATATATA action we've sort of come to expect from the series. It felt like a nice breath of fresh air, finished off with a really nice gag o...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

I enjoyed the set up for the arc. Really glad that we've got some genuine intrigue and set up. Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Keeping my expectations at a base because I know pretty much all of the manga's original arcs start off great before kind of descending into mediocrity at one poi...

Re: Anime adaptation of the Broly movie: is it necessary?

From what I've heard, a retelling could help make the minus portion of the movie more coherent with the rest of the story instead of something just kind off tossed on.

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

Watched a subbed video from the Vegeta Vs Broly fight. Broly is out of the water after Super Saiyan God Vegeta's blast. Vegeta then asks Goku ''Hey Kakarot, did you bring any senzu''? Did anybody else find this weird? Vegeta was winning up until this point, he didn't get any major beat down and the...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super (Manga)" Official Discussion Thread

Not going to lie, this looks really interesting.

I think I'm going to be completely down for this. GOAT man seems really menacing, hope that menace and intrigue continues.

Can't believe I'm actually hyped for the manga after the TOP sort of killed it for me.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

I mean, while making something as constantly fluid as this obviously won't happen, I think in general when Super comes back or it'll compare more favorably on average when compared to this film than Super previously did compared to Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. I really hope they bring in new ...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

The movie’s already a success internally. It has received a lot of praise, by Toei’s president too and by basically every single reviewer. I haven’t read anyone not praising the movie’s art style. Even if the art style wasn’t as successful as it has been, keep in mind that Shintani worked on the de...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

From what I've seen of the fight, it blows Goku vs Jiren out of the water, by an absolutely ridiculous margin. They aren't even remotely comparable. The action in the film is absolutely nutty, even the less well done segments of the action are still really ambitious. Like I said, I haven't seen the...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

I think people are really over selling how "deep" old Broly really was. Seriously, Broly as a character was nothing more than a culimination of the gimmicks that pretty much every other villain from those 13 films had. He was really not that unique or interesting, even in comparison to his...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

Unsurprisingly, best animated DB thing ever from what people have been saying. That feat isn't really that hard to beat overall. Not hard to beat in general, but very hard to beat the end of the ToP's animation. I've heard people say that it blows Goku vs Jiren out of the water, but I'll wait until...

with issues in characterization Funny that you mention that. I haven't heard a single other person cite that as a problem, and several have called it some of the best characterization and character writing that Toriyama has ever done. The movie is enjoyable but definitely not the best DB movie, not...

Re: "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" - Animation Hub [Updated: 20/07]

Animenewsnetwork gave this movie a B in the animation category, from all the talk on how good the animation from fans and animators alike a B is little surprising. I wonder what qualifies as an A? Their review criticized the CGI when talking about the animation, so that's probably the reason for th...

Re: Official On-Going Dragon Ball Super Movie Thread: "Broly"

I'm not a fan of a lot of the action sequences in the film, or at least from what I've seen in the trailers. It all looks way to CGI and video game-like. I think they try to make fight scenes these super fast ( actually fast, for us real viewers to watch) movements when we can't hardly enjoy whats ...
